2002 Mazda P5
This many have a simple answer but I couldn't find it. I've got a 2002 P5, five speed, 61K and when I start the car the ABS light comes on then goes off, normal. But my insurance, which goes by VIN, says I don't have ABS. Is there an easy way to figure this out other than getting to speed and slamming the breaks? I would like to prove to my insurance carrier I have ABS and get the discount.

Thanks

P5's never came with ABS, there is a slot for an ABS fuse and I thought the same thing, I believe it was only in canada that came with ABS...Maybe someone else can shed some more light on this

I wish they came with ABS, I know I could've used it a time or two. I know the previous owner could've used it since the tires had flat spots from locking up the front wheels. LOL! They don't come with ABS in the US.

i thought ABS was an option on P5s haha there was this yellow one i was about to buy and it had ABS and side airbags..weird.

check ur fuses to see if theres the ABS one. i checked mine and theres nothing haha

Um....my p5 in San Diego came with abs. it was part of the package that had side airbags.

Abs was an option but it was only available in certain parts of the country. Meaning only in the parts that got regular snow. For instance dealers in Texas never got a single P5 with ABS but as someone said above, in canada it was standard.

Well I'm one of the lucky ones I guess. I've got an ABS fuse in the main panel under the hood and the side impact airbags. Now I've got to prove it to the insurance company.
