if anyone who cares... since so many people post "what tires should i get?" threads, maybe i can help out. over the years, i've never heard anyone once say anything about the falken rt-615's, so i decided to give them a try. for the sake of money right now, i just threw two on the fronts, and kept the stockers on the rear and i needed two new tires. heres some pictures, they're beefy as hell.

they're 225/45/18's and they're really sticky. they don't quite hold up to second gear rolls yet though.

I like the look of that sidewall. Did you have to raise your front coils because of the increased sidewall height?

i know, i love the look of the tire. and nah since the stockers are 215/45's these are 225/45's so theyre just a bit fatter, i didnt have to adjust the coils. and im a long hair guy, so that explains the reflection!

Does anyone know which are stickier? These or the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec???

A 225/45 tire is taller than a 215/45.

im thinking the Dunlops. thats the tire of alot of people who time attack now use. they are pretty popular right now.

the Time Attack team around the corner from me uses them as well and said they dont even need tobe shaved like other tires theyve used

About tid bit taller but more wider right?

"More wider". lol

Yes, everyone here knows how to read a tire size right?

225 is the section width.

The 225 indicates this tire is 225 millimeters across from the widest point of its outer sidewall to the widest point of its inner sidewall when mounted and measured on a specified width wheel. This measurement is also referred to as the tire's section width. Because many people think of measurements in inches, the 225mm can be converted to inches by dividing the section width in millimeters by 25.4 (the number of millimeters per inch).

45 is the sidewall aspect ratio.

The 45 indicates that this tire size's sidewall height (from rim to tread) is 45% of its section width. The measurement is the tire's section height, and also referred to as the tire's series, profile or aspect ratio. The higher the number, the taller the sidewall; the lower the number, the lower the sidewall. We know that this tire size's section width is 225mm and that its section height is 45% of 225mm. By converting the 225mm to inches (225 / 25.4 = 8.86") and multiplying it by 45% (.45) we confirm that this tire size results in a tire section height of 3.987". If this tire were a P225/70R18 size, our calculation would confirm that the size would result in a section height of 6.20", approximately a 1.8-inch taller sidewall.

I burned through a set of 615's in 4000 miles thanks to autocross, I now have the Star specs and could not be happier. They are better then the 615's in every way.

but 615's are excellent for the price. im im not mistaken star spec cost quite a bit more then 615's

got to really throw the car in some corners today, man i love these tires! plus with those poopy bridgestones in the back, the front grips and the rear swings around a bit easier. looks wise, i want to get some for the rears. i love the look of the tire.

I said more wider because I've read and checked the specs on the Azenis and have noticed they do run a little more wider than other 225's.

And yes, I know how to read tire sizes. :)

Some of the earlier comments in this thread led me to believe that not everyone does.

I've had 2 sets of Rt-615's (on my SVT Focus) good tires, they perform well. I was able to get 15K+ miles out of them. Used them at Autox and DD. I'm running the Dunlop Direzza Z1 sport star spec (225/45) now and the Dunlops for sure out perform the Falken's. Most of the cars that were running the Falken's have switched to newer compounds like the (Dunlop Direzza Z1 sport star spec, Bridgestone Potenza RE-11, etc...)

I'm running these on my car right now. The car definitely grips up a lot better than the stockers. During a recent AutoX, first one with this car, I managed to stay within .600 sec of a new ralliart lancer on shaved NT-01's on a 60sec course. This is my 3rd set of these tires and know how they react in all situations now. Had 2 previous sets on my Miata. They get greasy around 130*F and don't like standing water more than 3/4" deep.
