New Smart Key

I've been browsing these forums for a while, but this is my first post.

I just picked up a new smart key for my 07 CX-9 and am trying to figure out how to program it.

I cam across another post with the instructions http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?p=4289911

I followed the second PDF to a T and had the car acknowledge the program mode because the doors locked and unlocked. I then hit the unlock button on the new key twice and shut the car off. Needless to say the new key didn't program.

Am i missing something here?

I know you have a 2007.
Try the 2008 flow I listed in the link to see if that works for you.
(the start up portion is different).

The process needs two valid keys because that "proves" that you are the true owner,not some guy who happens to have your keycard for a few minutes.
