Well just picked a brand new 2003 protege5 and can't wait to do some work to it. Thinking of going the show style for now not to sure yet will have to see what i can throw on her. But alas this is my first car that i will be doing and god knows i need some advice on what and were to buy some good stuff. Going to do my best to keep it stock looking out side wise except for maybe lowering her a little bit just cause i like the look of it better but hey who knows lol. Currently i have a bout $8500 of play money to work with so any and all suggestions will be well taken and if any of ya'll are out here in Hawaii give me a shout out been looking for a good mazda club to join. Later

spoolin springs -$220
injen intake - $220
Racing beat exhaust - $350
new deck - $400 - $500
alumapro alchemy rx 12 - $400
mono block sub amp - $400
2 channel amp to run fronts - $200
Components in the front - $260
Stereo install - $1000
HID kit - $500

TVs in the car are nice.
So is GPS if u wanted to add it.. garmin makes a nice dash mounted one about 800 bux.. but hawaii isnt all that big so i donno if u need gps. -=)

$1000 for an install of a sub, amp, deck, components and an amp for them? I don't know where you've been goin but you might need some lube next time.

no offense, but we're not talking pioneer, mtx, polk etc. this is a lil higher end stuff obviously.

but, yes you can get it for less.

Yes, but the brand of the audio components shouldn't affect the difficulty of the install. Unless you go with the Alpin V-drive deck, then there's just an extra power wire to run. The only way I could see spending $1000 on just an install is if you went crazy with fiberglass or something.

Hey Ross and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. (stash)

make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!! (stash)

What he said, he'd probably spend that much in the amps and wiring alone.

i was talkin about a pretty simple fiberglass install for the sub and a basic amp rack.. along with wires i figured it would run just about 1000.. also u have to remember .. out in cali.. just to install a component set in the front most shops will charge 140 bux. -=(

Thanks for the welcome guys I'll bring a case over for ya'll. (drinks) With the audio thing 1000 will probley right in the ball park being i am in hawaii and stuff cost way to much here lol. Been talking with a buddy of mine (yes i have friends) and i might be able to get a nice system and some interior work done for pretty cheap so that should work out pretty good. As for the lowering of my new toy what do u guys think blocks, springs or just max out the rim size? Also want to suck some more horse power out of her but have to watch that darn warrenty lol. Fire some suggestions at me.

jic makes a awesome suspension set up.. around 1700 i think.. onlything that will kill u is shipping to the rock.. jdmzoom has it on his car so if u wanted to get some info ask him or ard mp5 (rishie). both are great guys.. i went with 18s.. but i will warn u.. it makes the beast slow.. is u want some speed go with a nice set of 16s and some thick rubber. -=)
welcome.. and post lots of pics as u go.. we all like pics. -=)

Not to knock on your car of choice ... (Protege 5 = (2thumbs) ... but if you bought the P5 and still had $8500 left over, why didn't you buy a higher end vehicle ? (Mazda 6, Mazdaspeed Pro, WRX, etc.) Just curious ... BUT ! Welcome to the family :)

The 8500 that i have comeing to me wasn't in my account when i bought the car it happened to come along about 3 weeks after i bought it or i would have bought something with a little more kick but as i look at it now i have some money to make her one of a kind lol. :)

Omg u have to be kidding me just got off the phone with the dealer were i bought my new toy and they said any mods done to the engine voids the darn warrenty <sigh>. Oh well i will just have to do all i can to her with out the void <cheer>. So i guess i am limited to just bolt ons lol oh well i can still have fun with the interior too.

Well got me some prices the other day on suspenction exhaust and sounds not to bad. 625 for the exhaust installed and about 250 for the springs installed I could probley save me some cash if I could find a nice garage to work on my car at but until then I will have to stick with them doing it lol. Oh ya and the toons were right around 1000 like ya'll said. Doing tint and slam job next week I will post some pics for ya'll. Oh ya also found a nice set of 16 to through on her so I can have some rubber to play with about 1500 installed.
