Wouldnt that kinda thrash the cylinder walls until the pistons are hot? Never knew that forged pistons expanded, thanks for the info.MrDiggler said:For those that may be wondering... (I'm sure many already know, so don't shoot me), but the reason that his forged pistons make a little racket when cold is due to a slightly larger bore size. Forged slugs are denser than cast and will expand more when heated. The engine builder has to run a little extra piston to wall clearance or the pistons would seize when they got hot.
Just thought I'd answer the question for those that may be too timid to ask.
*Edit*
And KICK ASS ride by the way! I definitely need to keep an eye on your findings since I won't be taking those steps until the warranty is out (or close to out).
Thanks for answering this question again for the 1,000th time. No matter how many times it gets answered, not everyone know yet.MrDiggler said:For those that may be wondering... Sure there is a little more wear on the walls at idle. But keep in mind that I have been rolling on my JE Pistons and Pauter Rods for over 35,000 mi (in less than a year), and I'm still not loosing any oil yet! I drive like 45 miles one-way to work.MazdaSpeed0020 said:Wouldnt that kinda thrash the cylinder walls until the pistons are hot? Never knew that forged pistons expanded, thanks for the info.

I love the seats also, my fav, do you by chance work for an import company? This project seems like it would cost an arm and a leg. But its what I hope to accomplish someday, your just paving the way for the rest of us.
