New MSP Part Hit the Market!!!

Hey All!!!!

High-Strung Motorsports has now completed its first of many projects to come for the MSP. It is an Axle-back Replacement Pipe for the 2003-2003.5 and up Mazdaspeed Protege!!! This piece replaces the factory racing beat muffler with our BOLT UP axle-back assembly and is also considerably lighter at 6.2lbs (6 times lighter than stock!!!). It is very simple to install and no pipe ships out unless it has been installed, on a MSP in the shop to check for alignment and position. It sounds mean as hell and looks excellent! I selected a rolled, slash cut tip that looks VERY aggressive because let's face it, if it sounds the part, it's gotta look the part! It is a one piece assembly and can be installed in under 30 minutes using only a wrench to uninstall the factory muffler and to install our axle back assembly. The cost is $100.00+shipping. E-mail me with your address for shipping details or if you have any other questions at MemphisRacer@yahoo.com.

EDIT:
Payment for this part can be made with PayPal (quickest and easiest), cashier's check, or money order and orders will ship within 7-10 business days (due to the volume of sales.) If paying with Cashier's checks and money orders, please e-mail me for instructions. Thank you very much to everybody that has purchased one or is considering the purchase of one of these awsome axle-backs and we are all anxiosly awaiting your feedback!!!!!

AGR#7 (Greg) and I will be getting together sometime this week to film a 30 second video that will be posted so that you all may bow(bow)down to the rumble of our mazdaspeeds:D

So is this just for sound?? Being a rear section only, would it provide a power increase?

Thanks, Rishie

I know for a fact that this allows for a faster spool and less backpressure. I begin to spool at 2500rpm and make full boost around 3300. As for exact horsepower numbers, I dont have a dyno of a car with it. AGR#7, Greg has the first production model on his car and he has driven my car and was very pleasently stricken with both of them.

EDIT: I'm not promising any gains in horsepower, but I am promising that your car will sound like one mean cruiser for a fraction of the price of most any other axle-back!! For the quality and value, you couldn't find another axle-back system that will make your car sound this good. (hear ya) (thumb)

Would this be a good idea if you are planning to remove the cats?....Would this make the car too loud?....

I dont know about that one, I haven't touched anything in front of the rear axle section. I am willing to guess that it wont be the noise that will pose a problem but the tone that might un-nerve you. It will probably become raspy and you may run the risk of sounding ricey. I thought about removing my rear cat today but fear the dredded CEL that will occur. This piece was originaly designed for the people that want that full, aggressive, exhaust system sound without the full exhaust system price ($800-1100) I know that installing this piece will reduce the exhaust restriction enough to allow you to spool quicker and the entire axle back section weighs about 10lbs as opposed to around 35-40 of the stock axle-back.

are you saying the RB axle0back section weighs 35-40lbs? maybe the catback?

I know it's a heavy m'fer!!! I will break out the ole' bathroom scale tommorrow and see just how much they both weigh. No matter what the scale says, my axle back weighs about 1/3rd of the RacingBeat axleback.

Giddy Up!!

It sounds fantastic! When I got home last night, I decided to drive down the street to my buddy Joe's place (Blue Civic Si - you have all seen his car in various other posts), to let him check it out. He was blown away. I let him pilot it around the block, and up and down the street in our neighborhood, as I stood in his driveway. WOW!!! And; when it spools - it sounds just incredible! Total ANTI-RICE sound. Then; I drove it. Two enthusiastic thumbs up. (2thumbs)

If only for the sound....it's worth the price of admission! Remember Boys and Girls; I'm the old guy here (okay,,,so I act like 15-17 sometimes (chair))!! No matter - This pipe ROCKS!! (rockon)

Here is the tip...

Hey AGR#7: Being almost as old as you... ;) ... how's it on the freeway? A drone or does it mellow out with speed? Do you have any pics from underneath (I need to clear the ol' MSP hitch...). Thanks mang!

Oh - and give yourself some credit - you act like at least 21-23... besides, IIRC at that age you can even drink beer legally.

so, if it's an axel back, it will fit all sedans?

Not sure about fitting a sedan....Corey maybe could she more light on that. I will check my Wife's ES, though.

Yeah! It mellows out for sure. But; at around 2200-2500rpms, it is louder. I'm at about 55mph behind a couple of cars this morning, and this truck in front signals to make a right turn. Everyone begins to slow, and I am downshifting to 4th, to 3rd......WOW! It sounds really good. Keep it mind; this morning, all of my windows were down.

My Wife won't be too keen on it, as a passenger, but she has her Protege ES!

I think it just sounds great! Corey and I are going to put together a couple of movie clips in the next day or so, and get them posted.

Hey Everybody!!!

This is great:D Please keep the questions and comments coming, ill do my best to answer them.

Ping- It sounds very mellow at idle, just an ever-so-slight rumble heard from outside the car; from about 2200-2500rpm, the growl is heard inside a little more, and from 2500-redline it just sounds great! After the turbo begins to spool and push mass amounts of air through it the exhaust note settles into a roar from the outside of the car but on the inside remains a mellow hum (hear ya)

AAron- It will not violate any sound or emmisions laws. We designed it to accomodate the owners that are concerned with meeting inspection standards (I have to be inspected as well), as well as the people that want that mean ass sound coming from their exhaust system. No cats were harmed in the making of this exhaust system :)

Laptopheaven- The diameter of the pipe from flange to tip is 2.25" and the o/d of the tip is 3.5". (2thumbs)

njaremka- I am unsure about that, I'll see if i cant dig up a sedan and try it on for size, I'll let you know if i find anything out. (scratch)

Lilitaly- I'll be getting with Greg soon on doing a couple of sound and video clips of the MSP's in action with my exhaust on them.
