New MSP/P5/MP3/Sedan Radiator!!!

Actually the end of August is just under 2 months away which is pretty much the end of summer.

MP3Racer you have several messages from me but disreguard since this is much too far out and I need something right away! I took discospeeds spot and made full payment to him thinking this was going to be much sooner.

Shane02Pro5 no problem..... I understand

However, isn't this sort of the middle of July?? So I think the end of August is around 6 weeks?? I guess a little over a month or less than two months is one of those glass half empty or half full kind of things...

Guys again, I am real sorry this has taken so long. If it were totally up to me I would have had them fabricated by now. I am really tired of working with companies after this project. I am seriously thinking of not doing any more projects that I don't have total control over. Look at my oil pump setups...I have always strived to make sure they get done in a reasonable time frame.

Yell and scream if you need to...I understand....but please don't rip on my reputation that I have taken seriously to build.

Thanks Again!
Tom

I have to back Tom up. When I sent my oil pump to him, I got a call from him personally telling me what the specs were and what to expect from the pump.

Class act in my opinion. And the work was top notch too!

I have to say that Tom is tied for first when it comes to vendors IMHO. He has provided one of the best upgrades for us. If you have ever blown a motor because of oil problems you will agree. Without this upgrade our cars would suck even worse.

Please don't bash a damn thing just because of having to wait a few days for an update. Try doing this s*** yourself once and You will see what a b**** it is. I have local problems with fabricating and sourcing stuff. Can't imagine what dealing with China is like.

Tom: thanks for everything. Your hard work and dedication to the community is greatly appreciated. Good luck to you and the TEAM.

hey tom i was wondering if u ran the car with the prototype or did some quick testing or something

Just got back from the race weekend at Toronto with the Indy cars. Awesome to say the least!!!(yippy)

Anyway, we have been running the prototype from Mishimoto in some tests but this was the first race weekend for it....and it was amazing.

The temps were quite hot (mid to high 80's) and humid all weekend. Even with warming the motor up to 140 degF prior to the roll out the motor still wasn't up to temp after two pace laps!!! We previously have run the Ron Davis rad (don't get me wrong a very good rad) and never saw this much cooling capabilities. Engine temp was right in the 190 range for both races for the whole race otherwise. No problems and I would say a very successful test!!

BTW, I will try to get up a story/video on the race weekend...

Been following this thread since the beginning, and could only wish this was next year when I could afford this (especially at the introductory price)...

That's great to hear about how well it cools. One question though; would you think this radiator would be a bad addition for autocrossing since you normally have a short time to warm-up (unless you want to idle for a really long time)? Also, what does the rest of your cooling system consist of, including the thermostat details...?

I think it would be a great addition because any "power adders" usually increase cooling needs so anything you may do will be compensated for...on the other hand if it is not warming up fast enough you can always block off some of the grille opening to "tune" how quick you want it to warm up. It is much easier to make a system warm up faster while almost impossible to add cooling efficiency without changing major components!

The rest of our cooling system includes only the OE passenger side fan and some plastic panels we fabricated to duct the air from the grill directly to the radiator. A very basic system...

While we wait on this rad. - can you found out if they will be working on the
fan shroud assembly? (As for me I need the whole set)

That's good to hear. Being one of the most modified NA Proteges on this forum, I know that I'll have some cooling issues if I get into lapping next year. AutoX is one thing but constant high revving isn't going to be good for me. How did you guys cool that high-strung engine without this radiator? Did you use the Ron Davis you mentioned before?

Yes, we used a Ron Davis before that worked great. However, it was destroyed and we didn't want to spend the $500-600 on a new one so we ended up working with Mishimoto after discussions with several manufacturers.

BTW, forgot to add that on our system we also have two vents in the hood that help to extract the underhood heat....
