That's right...Called the "Vision Model" and here's a sneak peak from Mazda...

Apparently the press release if translated in English (according to taku2 on X) describes the concept as "a vision model that embodies Mazda's vision for the future of driving pleasure in every area".

I wonder if this is an overall concept to showcase future design language for the whole lineup or is this indicating a new model (and a sport one at that)? Thoughts? What about the Iconic SP?

In any case, exciting news!

Saw something about the possibility of another concept being introduced as well...Also seems some people are speculating that this Vision concept might be showcasing the next Mazda3.

In any case, excited to see anything new from Mazda...Let's go!

Driving pleasure - Handicapped by an incessant demand for crossovers? :D

Seeing speculation about one of the concepts being rotary related..Continuation of the Iconic SP or something new?

YES!......6 stroke rotary/electric thing where the motor charges the the electric while it runs on gas. tips, seals and op temps have been improved to about 150k before servicing. No plug in nothing. 600 mile rang. 35k prices. EV industry killer. No rare earth anything so no supply chain issues. no 15k battery replacement after 8-10 yrs. all kinds of good stuff sounds like.....hopeful for it to come about. i'd be down for this....no tether to charger, great range.

saw talk of the SP in that video iirc.....wherever it was it was beautiful

The Vision X Compact looks like fun.

The Vision X Coupe... I think this will be polarizing. Looks to me like a grown-up current generation Mazda3.

Mazda needs to bring some new fantastic driving "Cars" to market.

Exactly...Seems like people are starting to notice (well I sure hope so because I sure am lol) that Mazda continues to release these amazing concepts with equally amazing powetrains and yet we're not seeing any of these actually enter production!

Granted some are meant to be design language showcases but still...The people want to see what they can buy not an endless stream of concepts. The more annoying thing is getting people excited like with the Iconic SP and then offer nothing of the sort even years later...:(

The other issue are these concept powertrains that sound fascinating but if they never enter production, don't really mean anything...They did do something cool with the Rotary Hybrid MX-30 but they never really seem to get behind it and try to go mainstream with it...They seem to treat it like a side project.

Meanwhile Toyota is pumping out super cool concepts and production models...While they have infinitely more resources, what's making the difference I think is that Toyota is currently living outside its traditional comfort zone and it shows...Mazda seems to be too enamored with design and too conservative about releasing anything other than SUVs.

I say all this because I want Mazda to thrive longterm, I'm just not sure their current direction is best...
