2011 Mazda 3i 2.0-Liquid Silver
I would be coming over from a 2010 focus. point being i am already upside down, and not to mention have issues already in a brand new car, 10 months old. I am not sure what to do, get the mz3 and still be a little upside down, but be paying for a better car? Really is it going to be better?

I would be going with the MZ3 with 2.0, the iTouring trim level.

Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

What sort of issues are you having with your 2010 Focus? My brother had a 2008 Focus SE MT-coupe and the only thing he had go wrong was the clutch spring broke at 35,000 miles. I picked up a 2010 MZ3 i-Touring w/Bose/Moon Pkg. and love it, it's a great car with very good fit/finish over the previous Focus, and much more fun to drive. The only thing I liked from his Focus was the bottom seat cushions were a tad softer than the MZ3; but after 5,000 miles my seats broke in very well.

Can't go wrong with the i-touring, I just put gas/oil(3,500miles)/rotate the tires and so far so good after 22,000 miles.

Good luck in your quest!

If it were the 2012 focus, it might be a closer match, but between the 2010 and the 3i, the 3i is the better car IMO. Another option would be to hang onto the focus for another year or so until you're no longer upside down and at that point make the switch. You may want to wait for the 2012 3i anyway as it will have the SKY-G engine that is supposed to get in the 40 mpg range and make comparable horsepower to the current 3i.

Ah, its too late for waiting. The focus was experiencing some issues when accelerating with the a/c on, it would buck and surge at 40-45 mph, i tried to recreate it at a dealer and failed, but it did on the way home. I went yesterday to try and get somebody to see it, i sat at ford for 20 minutes without anybody acknowledging me, not one "can I help you?" I was fumed, ended up getting a great deal. Came up with some cash to offset the upside down, so its not bad at all. The MPG will be fine, I can deal, it really is a nicer car. feels more stable, secure, solid than my Focus, for sure. Engine is more responsive, throttle, smooth, everything is better. Just wish I could have afforded the next model up, but hopefully I can add fogs and spoiler later.

Well congratulations. I'm sure you'll be pleased with your 3. Don't forget to post pictures! (2thumbs)

I guess I am part of the family now! sweet ride this thing is, what an upgrade from the focus, one happy camper here!

Congrats and Welcome! There are so many MS3 parts from first(<-09) and second(10+) gens that are direct bolt on. So if your still looking OEM thats a good place to start (people are always trying to sell stock parts cause they are upgrading their MS3's for something else.

Corksport, and other sites online have plentiful amounts of great, attactive and sometimes decently priced accessories for your car. Good luck and look forward to seeing more pictures!

Im @ 24,5XX miles on mines, used Synthetic Blend since 5K and switched over to Full Synthetic at 20K. Have done NO work to the car, besides the oil changes and a blown stock speaker. Drive it 70miles a day commuting, its really a great car. Average 30mpg (combined) with AC. (2.0L, 5EAT)

Hey maz94, I have been checking and unable to find anything on which parts, IE intake, etc that will be a direct fit for the -09 to the 10-11s. Is there a list going or is it just ask or try it?

So what are some of the main things that are made for the first gen mz3s (that they dont make for the 2010+) that will fit on the 2010+ without any modifications?

The Suspension is a direct swap, I put the 09 MS3 springs on my car, Ill get a good photo of it tomorrow for you. Dropped the rear about 1/4 to less then 1/2 and the front just under 1/4". The springs were about tripple the thickness. Great OEM very MILD drop. The sway bars (i believe will fit as well) but i am looking for a set of MS3 sways that i can adapt to my car.

The exhaust will fit with slight modification, believe the flange and muffler location are slightly off due to the MS3 (hatch) and our Sedans. Strut/tower bars are the same (atleast the dimensions seem identical)

Seats swap over, Wheels do as well. Just naming a few things

I do online auction sites, Craigslist, and other classified sites looking for parts, as well as these mazda forums.

I do have a brand new OEM front mask (used it for a few months still in box) that im selling. Paid $150 + tax but ill do ~$100 SHIPPED if you want it. Snaps right onto the front, keeps it free of rock chips, soft felt backside also great for the paint. I left mine off for one week, and a nice size rock hit the front, and some more small chips happened from a dump truck, so i gave up and havent put it on since. But just sending out the offer. Ill prolly post that up here soon with pics.

Enough of my rambling, Does this help?

Yes, that does. I have been using the search function, but it always seems to bring up old results not applicable to me.

Sometimes using Google to search Mazdas247.com search yields more relevant results than our own search function.

If you want to give it a shot, try entering your search query and then add "site:mazdas247.com" to the end.
