New looking for a lil advice

if you need a car RIGHT NOW get the MSP..if you want to wait for the new LSD and boost increase..wait for the 2004 SRT..That car is worth waiting for. I'm considering getting one myself

the 2003 srt-4 is badass as it is!!!!! i never liked neons.... i still dont really until i saw it at the track doing 13's under warrenty

The 04 is out...I've seen some of them here in FL. Some guys are running 13.7 stock with those cars!

Yeah, I saw 2 threads about guys who did that, but the norm seems to be 14.1 with the 03s. My guess is that 13s will be attainable by more people with the 04s.

the guy i saw do it all he did was added 15" slicks........... ran like a 13.6 or so...... he may have upped his boost though!!

straight up...2004 SRT-4 is absolutely insane..it just need a LSD to make the circle complete..im going to go to the dark side..soon.

Wow, thanks alot for all the replies!

One thing I was wondering.. I wasnt sure I read it right... but the MSP has a t25 BB turbo? Thats pretty neat... considering most are viscous... nice to see something like that in a car, that most people pay for later. (I guess this is *two* last questions) Im not sure if the MSP has a LSD?

One thing I also look into is the community of the cars.. right now Mazda is 2nd to the DSM community (but, thats only cause I've been in the DSM community for 3-4 years now ;) )... I feel thats important to a car owner as it shows the kind of respect the people have for their cars and other's on the road.

SRT has a really immature feel to it, everytime I visit the site, it seems there is nothing but spoiled teenagers making flame wars for no reason. (I understand all communities have that, but, some less than others)

I think it will be tough, the Dodger dealer here, just got a 2004 Silver SRT in, and Im going to get a test drive of that tomorrow. I just got to sit in it today.. and I love the seats.. you sink into them and just feel "hugged". Now.. the only thing I really dislike about the SRT is the propriatary-like turbo setup.... like I said, Im used to the DSM and 'normal' setups.

MSP seems like the choice I want.. I may not get the inline quickness, but I sure love the looks, and handling is always something that puts a smile to my face... almost as much as a 16g spooling :D. I also like the more refined outlook of the MSP.. seems to be more oriented toward a nice balanced quality car (from what Im hearing from you guys and gals here).

Modding, as you say isnt as predominant as the DSM.. but, I like the challenge... DSMs are easy.. almost too easy to get up.

Im going tomorrow to car shop some more.. trying out a SVTF and a Lancer OZ (dont really like the OZ as much as the EVO8.. but its much easier on my checkbook and insurance :) ). I'm also very biased, I love the 4g63 engines, its a proven platform.

Once again, thanks for all the replies, and with a little luck, I hope to be welcomed into the Mazda Family. :)

P.S. Spooled, nice nickname.. thats my nick on other forums. ;)

I would get an 04 SRT-4. They now have power rear windows, sunroof, LSD, new colors, better tires, & Mopar Stage I (factory).

You're right, but the 2004's still have rear crank windows. :( I saw it today, when I went for the "look around"... little disapointing, but hey.. I dont use em much... problem lays within passengers.. sometimes I would rather "lock" those so they *cant* roll them down.

WOW...a bunch of LIES! I was told they did & I now have no regrets for not getting an 04 SRT-4. I used my rear window specifically last night at the track to ask an SRT-4 owner of all people if he wanted to race. He couldn't have done the same thing if he was in my position. I also share your need for control over all windows...when people ride in my car, I'm the window nazi. :p

Yes, it's a T25 ball bearing. From Mazda's site:

"Turbocharger System Co-Engineered with Callaway Cars featuring a Garrett T25 ball-bearing turbocharger with high-performance factory air-to-air intercooler"

And yes, the MSP has an LSD.

"Torque Sensing Limited-Slip Differential - Tochigi Fuji Sangyo"

Here you go for some specs:

Good luck with your car search!

Well that's not really stock then now is it?:p

hehe I was thinking the same thing. "it can run 10s stock with forged inernals, 20 PSI boost, slicks, exhaust, intake, and a midget in a bikini!"

Just got back from a SE-R Spec V test drive and almost test drove the SVTF... but decided Id rather not be seen in that thing. :P

Honestly, I liked the SE-R Spec V.. the SRT sold already :( So, Im down to the SE-R and the MSP... although the nearest dealer with a MSP is 135 miles away.

I wont, and dont really have much time for that kind of driving, just to test drive a MSP for 15 mins, and make a good decision. And I certainly, cant make that trip too many times in a week. :( But, we'll see what happens, hopfully I can at least get to drive a MSP once and start from there.

(I did get a chance to sit in a STi at my Nissan/Subaru Dealer though :D, man... I love that blue)

Since you liked the test drive of the Spec V I thought I'd post some things about it. (I own a 2002 Spec V). You can buy some JDM Nismo parts and keep your warranty- like springs and shocks and exhaust and body stuff. (There are also a bunch of other Nismo stuff that does void warranty. Some suspension bars, header, cams etc.)

There's a company saying it will bringout out a turbo kit with a 3 yr 36 mile warranty. That would put us with the SRT-4 speed wise. (We have the displacement and strong tranny to keep up).

Just thought I'd share. But you really can't go wrong with these cars. I admit I get jealous sometimes when I look at the MSP or SRT-4. Titanium MSP looks awesome and SCC said is the best handling FWD in the US. Good luck and check out www.thevboard.com if you haven't yet.

Thanks for the link! I checked it out, looks very interesting.

Im gunna bite the bullet and make a 110-130 mile trip this week and go see about test driving a MSP... depends on how big the smile on my face is when I get out. ;)

Anyone know of any factory or dealer incentives going on right now? (for Mazda)
