New info on the next RX from Mazda!!!

I hope they NEVER bring back the RX- "7"

anytime a maker brings back a "dead" car its usually the end of the line..

rx8 or rx9 ok.. no more rx7's..

name a comback car that made out.

charger.... no go
gto... no go
last made supra.. didnt last (great car but no)
t-bird.... no

name a car thats been out of the us market for 15 years that came back and refired a revolution...

Current body style mustang. Breathed life into the old failing fox chassis cars.

But I agree following mazdas addage there should never be another rx7 since its a whole different car.

Hmm 32k for your vert...that would make me very curious to find out how much mine was brand new

the mustang never died.. yes they changed the body style but there was mustangs in every years past 60-to now..

same with vets..

I'm trying to see if there is a car that actually DIED and came back to regenerate a company..

yes my vert had the paper in it it was an 89 vert and liek $32,5xx I think

sorry IMO a sports car cant be a 4dr.
the G35 is WAY better of a car hands down
the S2K is much more sporty of a car and is better
the 350Z may not handle as well but has more raw power then the 8
sports cars dont have to have "creature comforts" they should be raw, powerfull, exciting..

IMO the 8 is lack luster.. I enjoy uit, I would like one but to me its not an RX7 and its not a "sports car" it does not have the "pedigree" the RX7 did..

To put even even more simply, the RX-8 is 60 hp shy of being a sports car and has worse gas mileage then most of the real ones.

So now in true Mazda fashion, they are going to produce a 270 hp car when everyone else is going upwards of 330hp....4 years too late again.

Can't think of too many but the 350z was a huge success coming from the last z car. Toyota brought back the fj and it has been widely popular. The challenger is shaping up to be something good but with chrystler troubles its too little too late. And the camaro looks promising. Bmw has the 6 series they killed that off years ago and now that its back its hugely popular. Vw has the beetle...there might be more but can't think of any more

That's not going to matter while they are going over 300+ hp they are also getting fatter and more bloated. All of them are well about the 3000lb range...mazda has the right idea going the opposite direction 2640lbs sounds awesome

lol again thats not what I asked.. there never was a 350Z. it is a predessor.. like the RX8 is to the 7

im saying is there any maker out there that brought BACK an original and made it work..

like if mazda makes another RX7

nissan makes another 240Z (wont happen)

Toyota makes anothyer supra (wont happen)

Mitsubishi makes another Starion (wont happen)

etc..

and 2600lb car.. I will believe it when I see it.. not only that but who cars abotu size.. RX8's are not "little cars" they are bulky to..

i wish mitsu would make another starion just like the one before. it won't happen though. they are too much into transverse motors now to switch to rwd again.

the main problem with reviving dead cars is that they are the car in name alone. i can't think of a whole lot of cars that had the same original flare of the predecessor. challenger has come close, but there is no 440 mag in that, so it is just another charger to me.

I'll be honest, I test drove a track edition Z. Loved the power, but disliked the interior and space. Either car can be transformed into whatever you want it to be with $$. Out of the box, a fully loaded pre-owned 8 is a great value over the Z. I don't race and love having room for 4 adults if need be. I don't think you can base the qualification of a sports car on how many doors it has.

I'd love for someone to explain the mechanics of this to me... cuz I don't get it...

"The next RX-7's transmission is also all new. It's a twin-clutch, two-pedal six-speed unit with a twist that allows drivers to set the revs at which the clutches engage."

it is a clutchless trans.. like the Skyline.. it has a brake and accelerator pedal.. has prolly padel shifters behind the wheel for shifting.. and it has a tune box that u can just run it up to a certian predetermined rpm and it will auto shift for you..

GHEY design in other words.. most makes (like VW DSG) have been doing it for a few years.. its nothing special just more money when it breaks..

and IMO u can claim if a car is a sports car or not due to doors..

SPORTS CARS.. from back 30- 40 years ago have been 2 dr coupes with excess power,

now size has nothing to do with it..

and dont get me wrong I am not down talking the rx8 I would love to have one.. but to me it does NOT have the "pedigree" that the rx7 does and it is not a "sports car" in the since of the term

makes a lot more sense than what I was visualizing... I saw 2 clutch pedals in my head, and got VERY confused. So this is basically a F-1 inspired setup... and is a glorified autotragic trans... *sheds a single tear for the RX-7*

As for the RX-8, I have to agree, though a sporty car, it is NOT a "sports" car... nor did mazda intend for it to be. If it was, theres no way it would have the door setup it has.

The trans isn't too bad. It does suck that its going to be a lot more expensive when it breaks but if its anything like the vw trans it will actually be faster than having a manual

faster, yes, more fun.... no. I LOVE banging gears. If I don't have at least one manual trans car strait through until I'm at least 50, I'll consider myself a failure.

Lol I totally agree its gotta have the third pedal in there...just gives me another way to control the car

I just get so bored driving automatic... and yeah, choosing not to upshift when I know I'm going to have to slow down again... and being able to downshift so that when I go to make my pass I get INSTANT response instead of having to wait for the trans to catch up... is totally clutching every 5 seconds in rush hour traffic from time to time.
