New HID Fog bulbs

I've read mostly good reviews for the ddm tuning lights, so that would be your best bet. If you try googling for optix, you won't find many reviews, so I'd stay away from it.

Definitely let us know what you ultimately pick.

DDM tuning, IMHO, sucks. Their lighting output is inconsistent. their 4500K looks blue, their 3000k is a dull yellow, etc. I would recommend Diodedynamics for their HID kits. Their 3000K is a nice bright yellow! I'll post a picture up soon. If you guys want to spend money on more quality lighting these guys are the truth........https://www.theretrofitsource.com/
Those two companies would be the only companies I would do business with based on my experience. Just my two cents! DDM is cheap but you get what you pay for!

Did my research too. Ive read a lot of mix reviews as to DDM's customer service and 1-2 weeks or more shipping delays. As to the product itself, its more on the positive side though with some few complaints...So is it really worth the wait?

Don go with DDM, their customer service stinks, it takes forever for their product and if god forbid a bulb goes out or a ballast isnt working you'll have to wait forever for a replacement. Plus the quality of DDM is sketchy. If you like the price, go for it, take the chance. I'd rather do with DiodeDynamics. My two cents.

So I went ahead and bought some HID 35w 5000k kit. And so how did you access/change your fog lights and install this? Would appreciate it if someone can give me a guide. Im very new to this..Thanks.

Awesome!

Go back and read through this whole thread. All you need to do to access the fog light is to remove the plastic mudguard panel directly under the fog light. The whole install really isn't that hard. Just take it slow. If you're a big guy, you should probably jack up the front of the car. I'm a small guy and just barely fit under there without lifting the car (yes, I did install it without lifting the car :D). As big as the space is where the fog light is, the opening to get to it is not that big. Getting both your hands in that space may be a little challenging. Not sure if you can remove more panels down there.

Good luck!

chance72. Thank you for the link. I will try check it out this weekend. Hopefully I'll be able to crawl under and access that part. Tried it yesterday but got no luck..Maybe I access the wrong panel(panels under the fender)? and not that part right under the fog lights?

The owners manual shows how to replace the fog lamp. Its just a small splash panel under the lights. Its a quick easy job. The hardest part was understanding the German-> english translations on the instructions. Very amusing and made no sense at all. There are some really good youtube videos that show just what to do.

Good luck!

Did got a chance to access it today but ran into some problem. The panel below the fog light was held in place by some screws and 2 button clips. I tried playing to remove this 2 clips for each side but wont budge(mad) so I stopped since I'm worried that I might break these plastic clips.. Does yours comes with all screws or do you have this clips too? How did you take it out? Sorry for being a noob on this things.

Yup, 3 screws and 2 clips. The clips are in 2 parts. Pry out the inner part first. Then the outer (bigger) part will come out easily.

How'd it go Stryker?

Also, for those who have done this mod, how's the glare for oncoming traffic? It seems like most of the horrible blinding HID lights I see on the road are the aftermarket DIY type. I don't want to blind other drivers, but I currently just have the fogs turned off since I can't stand the halogen look in combo with the HIDs.

Yeah stryker, did you get them installed?

911jason, I've never had the chance to take notice of how my fogs look like while on the road (viewing it while riding in another car), but I'd assume it's not a problem if you're plug and playing an HID bulb. It shouldn't be pointing up at an angle to bother oncoming traffic.

My understanding is that the reflectors inside a halogen housing are not usually conducive to HID bulbs and scatter the light all over the place. Unless they are projectors somehow and control the light output that way?

Hmm, I don't have an answer for that, but when I pointed the lights at my garage door, the light from the fogs didn't seem to scatter above the the headlights. But the next time I have a chance, I'll try to see if I can view my fog lights from the front , from a distance. And maybe see if I can take a pic of it.

Does anyone know if the height is adjustable on the 2010 fogs? Mine seem to be pointed little low, i cant even see them shining on the ground from the drivers seat. BTW I have 35w 6000k ddm kit looks very blue so I will be changing them out for 4300.

The pic didn't really work out. You just see blobs of light. Just from my observation, my fogs lights were just as intense as my headlights, so the two together could possibly distract oncoming traffic. But then, I was only standing at the end of a driveway (40-50 ft away), so still can't give a real opinion from an oncoming traffic perspective.
