New HiBoost Turbo Kit for 1.6 Proteges

Haha, same here. This was about the time last year that I was getting ready to boost my 1.6. I am real curious just how much the 1.6 internals can handle. I'm sure Juan will eventually figure it out. ;)

Let me tell you that the internals inside this engine are much more stronger than the ones found in the 2.0, being a smaller engine. I can assure they can handle over 20 psi of boost safely.

do you have any pics of how the piping runs threw the passanger side of the engine bay???? btw thats a kick ass job man

Here are some more pics, however this customer prefered the stock air box.

BTW, we made 182 whp today with a little better tuning.

I can honestly say I am speechless right now. THEGOLDPRO has always been bragging about how strong the internals are but I never realized they could take that much boost. And many congrats on the 182whp. Any particular reason you guys are stopping at 9psi? It's times like these that make me wish my 1.6 hadn't been wrecked. Has alot more potential then the 2.0.

drueling............. to bad i am prolly going to ITT Tech next year or i would be all over this awesome kit... and its nice to know the 1.6l is alot stronger than the 2.0.. maybe it is worth keeping after i graduate and boost it..

20 psi, that's crazy. now I am really looking forward to going to the dark side.
say you boost 11 or 12psi, around how much HP would that be? just curious.

Jose

BTW, you got any pics of the setup not using the stock airbox?

this is really nice.... i feel a little hope that i will get some fast 1.6 protege one day (although i got that damn vics manifold :-\ who knows if it would work with that..)
any problems withe drivetrain expected with 178whp ?

what did i tell you greg, lol thats been my story since i boosted, lol i ran mine at like 12-13 psi all last year, bikman was running something like 15+ psi, and not only did it run it at 12psi, i ran it lean without even knowing it, lol not to mention i have 97k on my engine, so we will see. the only thing i dont like about that setup is how the piping runs right over the turbo, and mani, seems like more heat then is needed, but it is a kick ass job man, where does the turbo spool???

Turbo has full boost at 3500 rpms. The SRI systems has the air filter towards the right side of the car. I will post a picture of it next week. I am finishing another car with the open end air filter. I might run it at 20 psi on the dyno.

yeah 3500 s where mine kicks as well, sounds real good man, id like to see what the engine can handle, 20 psi would be sweet, i was scared at 12 psi, so see if you can max it lol, out of curiousity whats the max boost that turbo can run, i know my t-25 is somewheres around 15-18 i think.

now that we know the internals are strong and can take all the psi ... how bout the transmission ???

Yes, the 20 psi will be just for testing and with 100 octane fuel. The tranny will take 200 WHP. The turbo should be good for up to 22 psi on the 1.6 litre engine.

I just got the new ACT clutch with an organic disc in and the Haltech is being plugged on Monday. The 2.5 Full catless exhaust is also already in the car.

I will make a video of the run and post it here.

Juan
