Hello Everyone, My name is Emery and I just bought a 03 MSP. I am looking forward to learning more about this platform and maybe designing new parts and breaking some records. Currently I have an EB 05 Evo8 That is named Ricer. She moves pretty good I would say. Anyhow, I am off to the dealer shortly to pick up my new Mazda. As soon as I have time I will get a base line on the dyno. Then let the tuning begin. I really hope to contribute a lot of information here.

Congrats! Make sure you post pictures and MAKE SURE you read up about these cars, they have many issues haha.

Not loaded at all. Actually quite broke lol. Anyhow, That is what I do for a living. I own STM. I am really looking forward to this platform as I have wanted one since they came out. Needless to say, I am pretty excited. We are working on the car now as I type. Should have it on a lift tonight and maybe on the dyno for a base line.

Thanks

Holy sh*t those videos are insane, very nice cars, and I don't even like Mitsubishi at all. Good luck with the MSP, and don't expect to get too far on the stock internals, tranny or engine.

if somehow you can make cheep upgrades for the tranny (cause they go bad at 300HP) Please DO! lol!

But I want one of those evo's :( SO Nice, SO Clean!

So far so good.

I have already put 1k miles on the car and it seems to drive fair. There are a few drive ability issues so far but nothing to crazy. Some part throttle stumble and some hesitation at WOT. I still have not had time to toss it on the dyno yet but I will do it this week. New plugs are on the way for it and I hope that helps with some of the issues. Once I have time to data log/dyno the car I can get started on figuring out some more of the issues with it. I would assume it just needs to be tuned.

man, I have seen a few of the youtube videos of RICER and they are pretty impressive. I can only wait to see what you can do with this platform. There are a few successful members that have passed the 300hp mark. They can tell you the obstacles they encountered to reach that point...stock internals, LSD and our gearset are holding this car back a lot, that and the fact that our ECU is not tunable like the Evos are. It's either piggyback or standalone with these cars. Motor mounts suck, put those on the to do list. Stay under 10 psi unless you are confident with your tuning on this particular car. I have heard the stock T25 is not really efficient past 14 psi. Stock exhaust manifold tends to crack and the bolts tend to fall apart causing an irritating exhaust leak. Once you address all of the problems with the car, you should be ok. There is a thread with everyone's builds in it. I would take a look at that to get an idea of what it takes to build this car. You can also check out the dragtimes thread to see everyone's times in the 1/4. In your journey working on this car, you WILL encounter most of the problems that pretty much this entire forum as encountered. So, I know you will be able to find your problems or ideas here. Keep us posted, welcome to the forums, and we are looking forward to what you think about this car and its potential.

Thanks again guys.

Ok, Just took it off the dyno. Stock the car put down 126 torque and 138 whp (This is on our low reading mustang dyno). After looking at the AFR we realized the car is way to fat up top. I actually caused our wideband to shut off. lol. So in went a hallman pro, turning up the boost to 10 psi she made 163 torque and 161 whp. not bad for a 4 psi jump. As far as I can tell the car liked the boost quite a bit and had no knock so I will leave it where it is for now. This week we will get the car on a lift and probably take a look under the car and see if we can design an aluminum Exhaust for it. I know its not gonna make tons of power so the lighter it is the better.

Outlaw. We did not go to the shootout because we knew we would not pass tech at all.

wow this kinda makes me need a napkin to clean up myself thinkin about new possible parts for the MSP!! i see your in Rochester, if your looking to test some serious bolt ons on a more modified car ill be willing to talk =] i have forged internals and a welded LSD so my car can take a bit more abuse then a stocker.

for sure is low.. dyno on stock setup for our car should be in the 143-148 whp...
welcome to the forums.. cant wait to see what you do with the msp.. they are fun cars.. i should have all my parts for mine in my garage within the next couple months.. and the winter build will begin.. she will see daylight again (first time in 20 months) around march.. maybe sooner :)
if you have any questions, dont be afraid to drop a line.. we'd be glad to answer questions for you..

Nice to see someone still dumping money into our old girls.
