New Guy and Future MS3 Owner

No, I did not negotiate a price. The price they quoted including destination and wheel locks is $22,840 for the Sport. I don't know how much room I'll have to negotiate with them. I believe the dealer invoice price is about $20,500, so there's not a whole lot of room for movement. Add that to the fact that the dealer now has 3 of it's allotment spoken for and they are the only Speed dealer in Delaware... I'm not holding my breath.

I'm pretty happy they won't be marking the price up over the MSRP.

Congrats! You're the 1st to post with a VIN that I've seen of on any of the forums I check. I think it's a lot of car for $22,840 and would happily pay it myself if I could trade my MS6 without getting *****.

I got back from Europe on Sunday, so I stopped in and talked to Steve on Monday. He told me how yours was already in and that mine should come any day - and it did yesterday.

I just like giving pointless updates. The next one will be "They're putting the paint on my car!!"

Tell me about it. I told my wife that the day it comes in, I'm taking off of work and just driving around all day.

Then she asked if I would teach her how to drive stick...

LOL. My girlfriend ask me the same thing the day I got my MSP. I was like, "You know I love you and would like nothing more than to... Hey! Is that OJ over there in the corner with a kitchen knife?!?" When she turned her head, I ran off.(ughdance)

Congrats on you soon to be new purchase.

haha i plan on doing the same thing, and steve tells me, "you know that youre going to have to take me for a ride in this thing right?" - ha knowing full well that the only person driving this thing is gonna be me and maybe my dad if he asks nice enough....

and yeah, the gf def doesnt know how to drive stick either, plan on it staying that way for a looong time lol

Don't get me wrong, Steve is a nice guy - but he's not going to be the first person to ride in the MS3 with me. Here's the list so far:

1. Wife
2. Brother
3. Best Friend
3a. 2 Prostitutes

Just kidding about 3a, but Steve is like 27th on the list.

As for my lovely wife driving my car, I'll probably let her, but I need to be comfortable behind the wheel of this thing first. That may take me a month or twenty.

haha yeah my list will probably be equally long before Steve, but your 3a, might be slightly higher on my list (shh dont tell my gf, she thinks shes #1 haha jk)

Yeah, even funnier is that poor saps like me will probably write in to congratulate you on every pointless update including the new paint.

haha my teaching car just got sold unfortunatley.... My dad had a 1990 525i that I learned on, mysister learned on, and had 208,000 miles on the original clutch when all was said and done (sold it for 1200 in perfect working order)

**update** (haha I beat chris to it!)

I got official word today that my car completed production as of 8/22. No word on the ship date, but dealer now says last week of sept/first of october for delivery...cross your fingers for a tailwind on the way over!

Maybe I misunderstood, but I thought he said it began production yesterday? He also gave me the 4-6 week window for delivery, so either way I guess it doesn't matter. He said our cars are being built on the same line - so I guess that makes them siblings. Isn't that sweet...

no they were officially built that first day he told us (me 8/8 and you 8/11) but he was tellin me something about the tuning of the suspension and all the mazdaspeed extras was contracted out and thats what made it take a while after the build date... but yeah, two black mica sisters, i wonder if we'll be able to pick them up the same day? If so, sweet mini photoshoot lol

Two black sistas. Word. Yea, if we can pick them up the same day, that would be nice.

Hey, I read on another forum that the Sport models are not coming with Bose stereos. Have you heard anything about this? Mazda seems to have changed their site, reflecting my fears. I guess I'll be upgrading the system afterall.

I'm actually hoping for a sport model so it DOESN'T have the Bose system... The website currently shows that it's a package option on the Sport model, which is what I've been seeing for a while now.

old news man and the dealer is always going to tell you they are hard to get. They still say that about the speed 6 and they can't get rid of them.
