New Guy and Future MS3 Owner

I'm actually hoping for a sport model so it DOESN'T have the Bose system... The website currently shows that it's a package option on the Sport model, which is what I've been seeing for a while now.

Oh well. I already have an amp, 2 10"s, and a pair of 5 1/2" from my old car.

yeah i really only wanted the bose system for the CD changer, the rest of the speakers are the same bose system that was in my moms minivan, not great, but not terrible either...

I ordered the VW Phatbox yesterday, so I already have project #1 lined up for when the car comes in. The Phatbox should effectively replace the need for a 6-disc changer.

I thought the Bose systems were supposed to be pretty nice. Oh well, I guess this is a blessing in disguise. I can upgrade the speakers to get it where I want it.

Ding, Ding! There goes the Shitmobile

Well, I sold my Grand Am. I call it a shitmobile, but it's actually pretty nice considering the milage on it. 1999 Grand Am, 157k miles, $3600 - Heh. Nice downpayment on my MS3.

The only bad thing here is I won't have a car for about 4-5 weeks. My only option - borrowing my friends 1990 Geo Metro. Oh God, it's going to be a long 4-5 weeks.

I also lined up financing today. I got preapproved for $23,000 @ 6.6%. Per Steve at NuCar Mazda, their financing sucks, about 8% or higher. The preapproval is good for 45 days. They send me a blank check and I write it out for the amount I want to finance. So, if I put $3600 down, I'll finance roughly $20,000 after taxes/registration/tags, making my payments about $392/month.

that is a pretty good deal you got there man, except for the driving a geo for 5 weeks. lol

Black Mica FTW. So if your car is finished have you guys got the VIN numbers yet ? I Got the VIN code last week for my (hopefully) soon to arrive GT version so I am hoping it won't be too long. I'm getting impatient and it has only been 2 weeks since I put the down payment on the car.
I had another local guy tell me he did not expect his until December. I would be climbing the walls the whole time if that was the case.

I got my VIN number about two weeks ago. The Mazda system is showing my car as "Produced", so it's just a matter of it getting on a boat and sailing it's black ass over to the US. The salesperson is still estimating a late September delivery for mine.

Capital One Auto Finance. They advertise a rate as low as 6.35%, but I prequalified at 6.6%. He couldn't tell me why, eventhough I have great credit and no credit card debt.

The best part about them is that I got preapproved at $23,000, but they send me a blank check and I can finance any amount up to that. I don't start paying until I write the check. And, the rate is locked in for 45 days, which should take me to the delivery date.

I did it online and they called me, no kidding, within 2 minutes to tell me I was approved.

I doubt there's a "catch" - Capital One is a reputable company. They do give you a better rate if you sign up for auto-debit through a checking account. People tend to pay ontime when they don't have to worry about sending a check.

I've shopped all of the local banks (WSFS, Wilmington Trust, PNC) as well as some other national ones. I've also called State Farm, who handles my insurance. No one could come close to the 6.6%. PNC was closest at 7.24%, but that was with perfect credit.

Some places will do a 6 year loan, if you are so inclined. I know State Farm will. I'd rather pay the extra $60/month and have it paid off a year early.

PNC is the only other place I looked, I hadn't decided on a 5 or 6 year loan, but I think 5 makes more sense for now. At 25,000 my payments per month will be 473. But in all likelyhood I will only need about 17 or 18k in the loan, so I'm sure the payments will go down

Hmmm. I called the dealer back and he said my car has a build date of 8/31. Interesting.
Told me I would not likely see the car until Oct.

I just heard that old Dire Straights song and I can't get it out of my head, "I want my... I want my.. I want my MS3,".

it depends one when the build date was. (ex. me and insuranceguy are 8/22. so ~4-6 weeks after that they hit lots) I imagine that there are some sooner and some later than that

Out here in Bay Area Cali all 3 of my dealers are expecting late Oct./ Dec. I wished wed get them sooner but then i have more time to save up the down payment dough. I have a silver sport earmarked with my name on it. Id like to have the Bose but i think i wont get a choice. Oh well. I

I love being a member at my credit union. I got both my car and my wifes car at 5.25 for 7 years. Since rates have gone up the least i can get is 5.5 but im thinking ill see 6%. I do 7 years to make the payments lower but i always pay extra each month and end up paying my cars off in 5 years. I like the flexablility and lets me go to school with a little more comfort knowing i dont have to pay 400 bucks a month.

ok im getting offered 4500 for my protege after changing pads and rotors... am i getting screwed over here or is this a fair price? (granted all mods will be removed and sold seperately)
