Ok guys.........If you want to hide the antenna its simple.

Take off your back dash cover. Mount the antenna to the metal on the lower ledge and cover it back up.. I did this and you cant tell its there at all. And i have ZERO reception problems.
What tint do you have? Any?

No tint yet. But i have friends who have tint and have no issues, so I dont know why these guys are saying it will be. They must know something though. However.. the only way to find out is to try it. You can always move it later. But for now i would move it to the back. But like i said, i have no problems even with it under the plastic cover.

My guess is that they have a really dark tint... I'm going no darker than 35% so I should be fine.

I would think so. And if worst comes to worst....put it on the roof. It doesnt look that bad anyways.

Is it true that w/ tint, you can't get decent reception? I'm gonna be getting 35% all around soon, but I dont want to mount the antenna w/ sticky stuff if it's not gonna get good reception... anyone know for SURE?
Mount it in the front like I said if you have tint.

I mounted my antenna on my trunk lid behind the center of the spoiler, at the rear of the lid. Nice, and unobtrusive there!

Jersey EMT: How exactly did you run the wire from the roof through the window? Is it wireless?

OH btw i contacted American Satellite they sent me the tuner and the antenna for free, i just had to pay the 19.99 S+H fee. If anyone else is interested give em a call!

Just routed the wire around the edge of the glass (in the molding so it's not visible) and into the trunk.

So im guessing your tuner is mounted in the trunk also? Did the kit come with the necessary equipment to connect the tuner to the head unit?

Yup it's just one cable...a fairly thick dark blue cable that connects to the cd changer input on the head unit. Just had to route that under the door sills and up to the head unit.

krillin: yes, you should still be eligible... goto www.americansatellite.com and call them up, they're the ones w/ the hookup.

DSM2MSP: Yep, you can set it up that way.. it's all dependent on your HU, but if you have the stock one, or any other one that supports sirius (I would assume they all work), you can. So in short, YES. :)
k i called them up right now. what info do i need to give them in order to get this free antenna? the operator on the phone doesn't really know what she's doing, but she knows "about" it.

Tell them you bought an MSP and that the dealer gave you their number to contact about the free tuner and antenna. All you should have to pay is shipping charges.

i called them the other day and was on hold for like 15 min before i hung up. beside the 19.99 shipping charge, do you have to pay for activation and a 1 year subscription before they will send it to you?

Here's the deal:

You don't pay for the receiver, you don't pay for the antenna, and you DO NOT PAY FOR SHIPPING. It is all free, everything. Now, you have to pay for 1 year of service... if you get it all at once, its $150 for 12 months, plus 3 months free, which is about $10/mo. Do NOT pay for shipping, you shouldn't have to. And, when you call up Sirius to activate, tell them the dealer said to you "You don't have to pay for activation, it's all free.", and they should give it to you for free, and if not, give you the $5 web activation fee as opposed to the $15 for doing it over the phone. But remember, you do not pay for shipping at all... ZERO, ZILCH, NADA!

Let me know how the phone convo goes, and btw, I finished my install, kinda. It's floor mounted in the trunk, but I haven't had time to go out and get some good velcro and cloth adhesive so this is where it's going for now. I'll post pics tonight hopefully.

As long as you can plug one connector into another, I think you should be just fine, hehe. Oh, and just an FYI, if you're having trouble getting the HU and try to plug the cord in by feeling, it goes UPSIDEDOWN. By that I mean, the wire should point north, and the plug be upsidedown. It's hard to picture, but you'll see what I'm talking about when you get it.

ahhh upside down...who'da thunk it (screwy)

Ok, i called them back and had my 19.99 S+H charge refunded. Basically they send you an email in which you activate your sirius service, if you dont activate then you are charged the whole amount.

you don't pay for shipping, the credit card number is for incase you decide to run off with the equipment and not use it.
