I just had my first child my son David and wqe are planing another child and to get a Germna Shepard. I am intersted in get a '07 Touring Mazda5 with manual transmission but holding out too see if Mazda USA will bring the AWD version to the North America market. Is there any word on this, and if it dos come will it only be a automatic like in Japan?(yupnope)

doubtful for the awd for now. buy an 07 on the cheap right now (or an 08).

NA doesnt get hardly any of the goodies until it sells like hotcakes then they will think about it.

The unfortunate thing is I live in northern New England on top of a mountain we got 182 inches of snow into April this winter. my wife is pushing for a 5-speed manual CRV since it has AWD. We have studded snows for both FWD cars now but some times it we are pretty close to geting stuck on our road. Willthey be puting traction control on the 5's in the near future?

I don't think they will get the awd version over until people stop buying CX7 and CX9 due to the high gas price. They make a lot more profit by selling those. If they get the awd version then it will hurt the sale.

The same reason Honda won't get the 4 cylinder version of Odessy over because they make a lot more by selling the v6 version.

Is the CX-7 based off the Mazda3 or the Mazda6 platform?

i searched for months to find ANY five speed manuals and found nothing. good luck.

Canadian Mazda5s will not have ESC nor traction control for 2009. I doubt US ones will. By 2012 they will, but who knows before then?

In your situation, I'd recommend checking out a new Subaru Forester also. Lots of space for a dog in the back, standard AWD, ESC, traction control. It's also an IIHS "Top Safety picks", as is the CR-V.

yes in your situation awd=mandatory, so although i usually reccomend a 5 in any situation, you may need that honda awd after all.

you can only get a touring in auto. manual only comes in the sport.

I have a 2007 GT with a manual transmission. Of course, I am from Canada, so we have slightly different things available. There are some cheapish 2007 GTs in Quebec. Check out driving.ca for some details.

FWD only.

Must be a regional thing. You're right, I see no M5's with manual transmission in the Chicago area, but as an example there are six in the St. Louis region (I'm in between the two so I could hit either market).

Any word yet on what the '09's will offer? In particular, I'm looking for something that says that manual transmission will still be offered in at least the Sport model.
