New Exhaust for Mazdaspeed Proteges

My went to the shop today to let them extend the o2 sensor wire. They said they can't do it. They told me I need special wire. How do you guys extend the o2 sensor? I am really confuse
It comes packaged with the exhaust. I think there was four of them. 3 black 1 white.

I didn't extend my o2 sensor. I found a way around it since I don't like the idea of splicing the stock sensor. If you get a spark plug defouler from autozone or where ever you can use that. Do a search in this forum and it should come up.

oh nevermind, I found them. I didn't realize it came with the package. How do I extend them? do i need special tools?

LOL, I would not go back to that shop if I were you, joefufu. The "special" wires come with the exhaust, along with instructions. I did it myself. It was pretty much just like extending speaker wire or something like that. Just follow the instructions carefully or find a shop that is willing to read instructions. Also, make sure you or whoever you get to do it, insulates the fcuk out of the connectors and the extension.

EDIT: LOL, you must have been posting while I was writing. You need a good set of wire strippers, a good set of crimpers, and some good insulating materiel. I may have gone overboard, but I used Heatshrink Tubing, then electrical tape, then cold shrink tape.

Haze20 & RenzoMSP. I used new kartboy hangers and I have no clunk at all. However, I could not use the kartboy on the very back, near the bumper. It made the tip of the exhaust sit way too close to the rear bumper. I was kinda afraid that it would melt the rear piece of the body kit. I actually got a hanger from a local exhaust shop that's a little longer and it works great. Probably could have just used one of the stock hangers but I just cut the stock ones off.

I told you the wrong thing to search for use the key words sensor a cel in this forum and it should come up. It's real easy to do.

Haze20, I'm really interested in seeing those dyno sheets. Also, I'm wondering what mods you have for your baseline run. Sorry if it is in the thread I'm lazy. If you want, you can PM me so your mods aren't posted for Uninvited Warranty Nazis to see.

Thanks

OK, now I've heard about this before, but by tapping into lines you change the resistance in them. So if you splice into a wire and add some more wire to you you've now created more resistance then that wire originally had. It's like spark plug wires and how MSD claims 12ohms of resistance per foot, blah blah blah. Anyway, just something to think about when changing your wiring on the O2 sensor. IT was designed at a particular length and should stay there, but I personally don't think a foot is going to mess anything up. Sorry, just wanted to rant on.

Has anyone fully got rid of the clunk yet??? I ordered the kartboy hangers and I hope it goes away after that.
I have kartboys on and no clunk

In the rear Mine sits far enough away from the plastic, Rob maybe one of the hanging rods got bent during shipping, I have a good inch clearance.

there are my sound clips vids on post #667, page # depends on how you have yours set-up to read, so I list post #, they are always the same

The only thing on the car during the base run was a SP2. I have the charts on disk and they just add the runs to the disk as I go back. Hope the charts come up.

only gained 8hp, 9tq? that's kinda low, but there are many factors involve too. I will go get a dyno during summer, since I still have my steelies on right now

Actually I think he said that he is stock except for the exhaust and I'm pretty sure that was at stock boost. So yeah, those numbers are actually pretty good.

I put my kartboy hangers on earlier today and the clunk is gone.
yeah its really nice now isnt it, I told you you would solve it with those. did you have any problems in the rear like Rob (dirtysouth_msp) had? His kartboys put his tip too close to the valence, but mine didn't.

Its close, but not close enough to melt the rear skirt ( I could fit my finger in between). Also some times it hits it, but its only once in awhile. Hazes dynos weren't that bad. Im thinking of getting CustomMSP smic next. What do you guys think?

I guess an inch is about what I have, but no hitting yet. thats my next mod too, i really like customMSPs SMIC, but I am trying to get a prototype from a local company, if they decide to go ahead with it, its hard to get people to move on anything for these cars since they are such limited nimbers. another thing that would be nice is MAMs turbo manifold. This is an expensive hobby my friend.

I want CustomMSPS smic, but the only thing that kinda bothers me about it is that the radiator/ fan doesnt fit straight when its installed. The good thing is that i think its the biggest smic core that fits. All i know is that i don't want to pay $100+ more on a Circuit Sport. Then get some turbohoses hard pipes. I want aluminum hard pipes not steel.
