New Bose Stereo Problems

Simple dealership cop-out answer. My dealer told me they'd never heard of the BPV leaking. Then a ford engineer showed up and said "I'm here to look at one of your MS3's for a faulty bpv".

haha. typical. The service desk jockey goes "well idk what to tell you i haven't heard of this problem and there is no reflashes, i will have a tech look at it" then a tech comes out and im thinking to myself hes gona just say he didn't hear anything. but when i showed him he was totally cool and tells the service secratary it deffinatly there and contact mazda.

Same situation on that example as well!! I asked and we got a 2nd opinion from another sales person about the radio. She had the nerve to say "I wouldn't say it's doubling in volume, but it does sound significantly different". A bs answer. Of course, no one at the dealer has heard about the issue yet.

my dealership looked at me funny when i told them they paused sales for the MS CAI. and now they try to tell me like i didnt tell them it first. Hopefully someone has an honest dealership around them that with help resolve this issue

Same here. I'm almost wondering if I should only buy my MS3 from the dealer most aware of the problems and their potential fixes/progress.

I've found with mine if I turn on ALC to level 3 to bump up the volume a little bit (still annoying how the sound changes with speed) and set the bass and trebble up a few notches I can get the volume up to a pretty loud volume without the volume level hitting 30 and up where all the real trouble seems to be. Works out pretty well for me while we wait on a real fix.

You know the jump from 34 to 35 isnt the issue for me. The thing I hate is the BASS going completely away. I mean I think the sound quality should be all the way through form 1 - MAX and for it to jump and sound better at 35 sucks. But right now the real issue is the BASS. That is why I posted this thread to begin with.

I totally agree. I'm on the fence about just replacing the thing with an aftermarket system. The piano black trim is really holding me back though. I wish there was a piano black dash kit for an aftermarket stereo.

Not to spam it up, just wanted to add another vehicle to the lisk, I have a 8.5 GT metro gray, same s*** as described - 34>35 jump, and bass cutting out randomly. I have noticed that the louder you crank up the less likely it is to cut out the bass, also on songs with more more bass(rap, hard rock) it is LESS likely to cut out, however on punk songs, etc(weak bass) - its VERY likely to cut out. If you listen to your system at 40 or higher, its much less likely to cut out from my experience.

I really hope it can be fixed with software changes, because the dealer will **** the dash removing that, everything will rattle like hell from then on.

Pretty gay IMO, the main reason I wanted the GT was the stereo so I wouldn't have to **** the dash and put in all aftermarket s*** to make it sound good, but if they don't fix it, looks like I will still have to(puke).

I've got a 2008.5 Sport with the new single CD 6 Speaker Stereo (non-Bose) and I have the same exact issue. When you hit 35, you get that loudness effect (higher high's, with more fullness) with a phantom bass increase every now and then that nearly over powers the system. My ALC is off. I'm telling my dealer about it tomorrow.

I called my dealer and they hadn't heard of this issue as of yet but to be fair, I think I got one of the first 2008.5 models off the lot. I called the Mazda Customer Assistance Center (800-222-5500) and opened a ticket on this. They said they will research this "volume level 34-35 sound quality change" issue and get back to me in 2 days max they said.

I highly suggest that everyone do the same thing, call 800-222-5500 and explain your issue to them. The more they hear about it, the less question mark looks we'll get when we talk to our dealers about this.

Okay people. The issue isn't the 34 to 35. The issue is the BASS cutting out while the car is being driven. I dont know if this is happening on the sport packages but I know its a BOSE problem. My buddy bought a 08.5 GT package and he has the same issue as me. I bought my car about a month ago and this problem is known by Mazda and they are looking into it. My Service manager has been keeping me informed about what is being done and has been working with MAzda for a solution. Today he called me and said that Mazda would have a fix by the end of this month(from actual Mazda Techs), but he was alittle skeptical about the time frame. I will let yall know something as soon as he tells me something. Even though your dealership doesnt know about the problem doesnt mean its not being looked at. Apparently the service department I goto was the 1st to bring it up with them and is one of the #1 Dealers for Mazda in the nation. So do alot of debugging with the Mazda. Like I said I will keep ppl informed as I find out things. I would at least take your car in and bring it up with your service department so they can address the issue. If you have any specific question, please feel free to ask.

Yea, It's Bose and the non-Bose on the sport packages. Seems to be the exact same issues.

I have an app. tomorrow with my mazda dealer. They never had any complaints with the Bose/radio problem of course. The service man said he will see what he can do. Very annoying when the bass does that, even when the ALC is off. Sometimes i swear when the ALC is in the OFF mode, it seems to do the opposite of Levels 1 through 3! I slow down and the bass seems to get louder, then when i take off it goes away.

It's just low-frequency engine and road noise drowning out the sub when you get going. Our baby "sub" isn't too terrible if you're just sitting with the car off, listening to music. But MS3's aren't exactly silent inside when you're moving and the sub just can't keep up. Then you crank up the bass to make the sub louder, which makes the door speakers get more muddy and boomy. Then you get sad. I could swear my stereo still gets louder with speed, even with ALC completely off. Who knows?

I am in Austin and experiencing the same issue with my metro grey 2008.5 GT. I bought mine at Mazda South, and I was wondering if you go to the same dealership. If so, I may wait until there is a confirmed fix before I take mine in.

I full heartedly disagree there. If that were the case then why when the bass drops out, you can actually lower the volume a notch and the bass comes back for a bit?
