Hi, I'm a 'newbie' member here and really not an official member as I don't have my MS3 just 'yet'. I'm going to take a look at it this weekend with the wife and make sure it's the car 'we' want. I'm pretty sure it's the car 'I' want, just not sure it completely satisfies the 'we' part of my wife and I if you know what I mean. Now having said all that, I'm 36... a good 20 years older than the originator of this thread and to respond to the 19 year old post just above me here I don't think it's that everyone is passing judgement on you guys for being so young and being able to 'afford' to own this type of car. Most of us were likely not as fortunate when we were young for sure, but I think we would all agree that given the opportunity we would pounce on it as well.
In addition to that after driving 20 years we do have enough experience to extend some advice (unsolicited of course). I am a parent now of a young boy and I know the last thing I'd want is to have to see him in the hospital with injuries resulting from a car accident that could have been avoided. A vehicle with this much power can be a dangerous weapon if not respected. In fact I think it was Peter Parkers uncle that said to him "with great powers comes great responsibility"? Not that this is words to live by (considering it was from a hollywood movie) but it is somewhat true.
I had to explain to the wife that I would drive this vehicle with due care and attention and be a responsible driver (and I'm 36 years old!). At the same time I did explain to her that this car is also engineered to be 'safer' as it does have both Stability and Traction control systems in place. Most vehicles do not have either one of these systems.
Anyways, a bit long winded here... sorry about that folks. I'm here to have as much fun as the rest of you guys with your vehicles. I'm just hoping that I do it without adding to the expense (speeding tickets etc). But to me, just knowing that the power is there is almost satisfaction enough.
Wish me luck on my new purchase this weekend.
Cheers.
