New 2008 speed3 Owner

Nice car. When I was 16 (14-15) yrs ago I was saving my money for a used green and silver 87 mustang cobra a local dealership had on its lot. Had enough for the down payment but my insurance would have been like 8K a year LOL. I ended up with an 86' Gold 4 dr chevette with peeling paint on the hood LOL. I'm glad I did not get the stang because I am sure I would have killed my self. Be safe and have fun!.

When I was 16, I didn't even get a car. Was still using public transportation. Parent's still didn't trust me to drive on the roads alone. 18, I got the family car - a 94 Tercel. I actually liked that car. I didn't really care about cars at the time. Actually glad I didn't - ignorance is bliss - else I'd be wanting a fast car at a young age and wouldn't have liked my current ride.

My first taste of a relatively powerful car was a friend's 97 Maxima. 197 hp even on a heavy car was > than my 90 hp Tercel. From then on, I started looking into cars.

Bought my first car (2001 Nissan Sentra) - which I am now selling here: http://www.b15sentra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=157673

I bought that car when I graduated college and was out on my own. I've since worked on it (yea, I got real involved with cars then), and is now it's a 250 whp beast. I love the thing, but life goes on - got another job that requires traveling, and I need a stock factory-warranty ride. The MS3 is the only thing that came close to what would replace my Sentra. I am now selling it for a brand new stock 263 hp MS3. I think that's a good replacement for my turboed Sentra. :)

I won't knock a kid who has rich parents, as long as the parents know how to teach their kids. Learned on daddy's Porche, eh? I'm jealous as a 28 year old who hasn't even taken delivery of his 8.5 Metro Grey MS3 yet. :)

Welcome Lyle!! While i agree you should be careful with your new toy because it is fast and i have seen what can happen when "children" get there hands on fast cars, but as long as you respect your new car and dont be stupid with it im sure you will have many good times...and as for the people who like to hate on younger people...im only 19 years old do you wanna yell at me? I think its pretty childish to just start passing judgment on people you dont even know.

Lyle just dont make what they say come true and they will have to eat there words haha

Congrats on your ride, looks nice and clean in the photos as well. My first car was a 1975 Chevy Vega (I'm 42 years old) and the gas gauge didn't work. Ran out of gas on the NJ Turnpike on the way to NYC. Things have been progressively better since then !

Man you sure got a lot of response! that's cool because thats the way the forum is. You now own one serious piece of machinery that could last a lifetime. I hope you two have a meaningfull relationship that lasts many many years. Peace and welcome

Hi, I'm a 'newbie' member here and really not an official member as I don't have my MS3 just 'yet'. I'm going to take a look at it this weekend with the wife and make sure it's the car 'we' want. I'm pretty sure it's the car 'I' want, just not sure it completely satisfies the 'we' part of my wife and I if you know what I mean. Now having said all that, I'm 36... a good 20 years older than the originator of this thread and to respond to the 19 year old post just above me here I don't think it's that everyone is passing judgement on you guys for being so young and being able to 'afford' to own this type of car. Most of us were likely not as fortunate when we were young for sure, but I think we would all agree that given the opportunity we would pounce on it as well.

In addition to that after driving 20 years we do have enough experience to extend some advice (unsolicited of course). I am a parent now of a young boy and I know the last thing I'd want is to have to see him in the hospital with injuries resulting from a car accident that could have been avoided. A vehicle with this much power can be a dangerous weapon if not respected. In fact I think it was Peter Parkers uncle that said to him "with great powers comes great responsibility"? Not that this is words to live by (considering it was from a hollywood movie) but it is somewhat true.

I had to explain to the wife that I would drive this vehicle with due care and attention and be a responsible driver (and I'm 36 years old!). At the same time I did explain to her that this car is also engineered to be 'safer' as it does have both Stability and Traction control systems in place. Most vehicles do not have either one of these systems.

Anyways, a bit long winded here... sorry about that folks. I'm here to have as much fun as the rest of you guys with your vehicles. I'm just hoping that I do it without adding to the expense (speeding tickets etc). But to me, just knowing that the power is there is almost satisfaction enough.

Wish me luck on my new purchase this weekend.

Cheers.
