NEPOC Meet / Install Day

hmm...I can try and be on the road by 10, but I have to go to my work at 10 to get my check. I will rush everything though. I will try and be there by 12. Call me tonite. I am going to go to autozone now and get some of the stuff I need. Don't know if I will get everything. I might still have to run to the store later on when I get up to NH.

(rockon) Ok, I can make it Saturday! I'll be coming up for 9:30-10am, is that ok?

Anyone going to be around still that Saturday? xxMSPxx, how about you? I'm going to need some help painting my calipers. :)

I only have one jack, the one that comes with the car... do you guys have enough? Maybe I can buy one (how much are they?) on the way up there (like in WalMart or something)

Sorry, I can't come up Friday night..

Changed the time to four hours later, 2pm or so.. is that OK now? Decided that I want to sleep in after Friday night, recover, if you will.

I'm thinking of installing some Dynamat-like stuff as well.. anyone have a heat gun?

1st MP3 in NH--you Dynamatted your MP3, didn't you? Maybe I could snag some advice from you.

1st MP3, BTW, a friend of mine just purchased an STI, with no stereo. He wants to add in audio soon, so I have been helping him a little. He'll probably have it done by a shop (he wants it done "right" the first time), but I already prevented him from getting an overpriced mismatched-ohms setup (all prices MSRP, the planned config had a 2-ohm sub into a non-2-ohm-stable amp).
First peice of advice, don't use any product that requires a heat gun. They stink and don't work very well, but I can certainly bring the heat gun up.

I can show you how to install a head unit in an STI on Satureday. I haven't run an amp yet so I might be doing that Satureday.

So we drinking friday night? (drinks)

I should be back at my shop in Londonderry around 7

The one I have is 20sq ft of eDead v2, which, from what I remember, doesn't require a heat gun, but "it helps." It doesn't stink, as I recall from forum posts.. supposed to be like Dynamat Extreme.

Should I get a wooden roller from WalMart or something? I like have s*** for tools :)

eD stopped selling eDead v2, they use some liquid stuff now... I guess I'd go for that kind of liquid deadening, but I'm not ordering it online in time for Saturday, and I don't know where to get that kind of stuff for cheap anywhere else. Here's the old eD desc.

1st MP3 in NH, btw, sorry for more questions, but since you're the audio mastah :)... do you have any tools that may help in diagnosing and/or eliminating alternator whine?

I'm thinking... maybe groundkit install! :) Are you still selling those $75 grounding kits? It could help w/ alternator whine... lower the noise in the system... does that kit include upgrades for these connections:

alt to batt
batt to ground (frame or chassis)
engine to frame

I keep reading that these are the most important connections to upgrade.

1sty are you coming up friday? I will still be there on saturday. I bought some caliper paint that dries fast. If you are going to paint them then get paint that dries fast, you will need it unless you are coming on friday, check with greg about coming up on friday though.

Is it asphalt based or buta rubber based?
Dynamat extream doesn't require any heat unless its cold out. Not to mention it doesn't stink at all. Only the Dynamat original sticks and needs a heat gun.

I have a roller I can bring.

I've used the spray liquid stuff before, its junk.

Alright, so i'll meet chris at like noonish tomorrow at exit 7 park and ride of 91? sounds like a plan to me..i'll give chris a call tomorrow morning..

Hey 1st, if youc an could you get me the positive and negative battery wires in red? I will have the money, and also could you get the terminals for saturday too? If you can you are the master haha.

Chris, what's the paint called? I don't think it's "Paint that dries fast" (tm) but you never know :)

For what it's worth, my current plan is to get the Dupont Metalcast Anondized-looking paint, w/ the base paint and the blue paint. .. they are all spray-paint type, AFAIK.

Is that fast-drying?

I don't remember what it was. It's similar to that RAAMat and Fatmat stuff that's out there.

The liquid deadening that eD now sells is not spray, it's brush-on kind and has been getting rave reviews. Supposedly two thin layers of it produce the same mass as two layers of 45-mil eDead v1 (which is like Dynamat Extreme [sp?]). Sounds very good...

I'd appreciate if you could bring that roller. Thanks :)

Ok so it's friday now.. who is gonna be there tomorrow? My short shifter and g2 caliper paint stuff isn't here yet, i ordered 2 weeks ago tomorrow :( I e-mailed TWM about a week ago and got a response about the e-mail timing out on their end, I never got a tracking # or anything like that :(. so I guess i'll be coming for a meet, but I won't have anything to install :(

You can always try to find caliper paint in a store (like what I'll be doing, getting Dupont Metalcast from Autozone), and return the G2 stuff.

I was going to do that in the first place but then I read about how the G2 kit is nice so I bought it. So what time is everyone gonna be getting there tomorrow? I'll be out late tonight but who cares I can leave by like 8am if people were gonna be getting there around 11.

Gonna try to get there for 1-2pm tomorrow (Sat.)

hmm should I be following mapquest and going 84e to 90e to 290 to 495 to 93 or could I just take 91? :( mapquest says almost 4 hours away for me, and i don't even have anything to install. i'll decide by tomorrow morning whether i'll be going :\

I'd be so dead with 8 hour of driving in one day, if it was more like 6 hours that's much more doable. I wish one of my friends would come with me but it seems like I am the only kid with parents who aren't overprotective.
