Neon Help??

i had neons on my car they all popped, first time i put them on their i only had problems mounting the front... where did you guys mount the front neon???? i had it ghetto rigged with zip ties but it popped my neons. if someone could display a pic of where they mounted it or explain i would appreciate it.
thank you

aight thanks... i just finished putting the 3 except the front one, starting to put the wire through the firewall now so i'll check back in a couple, i appreciate it....

also got an suggestions on where to run the wire through the firewall???? i had it running through the side of the door ghetto style but want to make it look nice now.....

I just normally used a coathanger and what I do is tape the wire to one en of the coat hanger and (of course I straightened it out completley) and and then from the firewall under the hood I poke it throught one of the rubber gromments and then gon inside under the dash where the gas and break pedals are and pull the rest through

my front neon

I had the streetglow gold series. The front neon was on for about 6 months, then I was repeatedly pulled over for it. I was let off with all warnings but I decided not to take any chances, so I moved it behind the area between the top grill, and the bottom grill (where the license plate it hanging). That way you can't see the bulb, but it glows red on top and bottom.

Currently, the front bulb is still on the car, but the rest were removed after I had my car lowered. (jackasses busted a bulb on the lift). even after I replaced that bulb, none would work so now I'm stumped.

well I hate to be a smart ass but if you were putting your neons where every one can see them then s*** i'd pull you over to since that looks like s*** .. your supposed to place them in an area where no one can see them but still able to see the light shinning on the ground illl go see if I can get good clear picts of mine one and mine are red too ... also Onatrum ... you need to realize if you havent already ..that they didnt pull you over because they could see the neon bar or anytihng .. they pulled you over becasue it is illegal to have any lights red or blue in the front of your car ON while driving .. now if you were parked in a parking lot or even at a red light they could not have done a thing ... but its only common sence to leave the neons off while driving ..

I disagree

You're right about the fact that bulbs should not be seen, only the glow. But I feel on the front of vechiles it is a personal choice. I had nothing but compliments about the bulb being visible.

As for being pulled over, it depends on how strict the law enforcement in your community are. I was pulled over because "the bulb is visible" (exact words from both the trooper and the sheriff). The sheriff even offer suggestions on how to hide the bulb. He said they aren't that strict on having lights, but recently (at that time) more and more people were buying them and making them totally visible (front, sides, and rear). The first time I tried solving the problem by placing black electrical tape over the front side of the bulb, so that it wasn't visible. this worked until the tape started peeling off, which looked even more tacky than the tape itself. so then I just moved the bulb altogether.

But I"m still interested in seeing your picture because as I said, mine aren't working so when I get off my lazy butt to fix'em, maybe I can rearrange the front for a better glow.

Does anyone have a good resource for under-carriage neons being legal or illegal in certain states?

A buddy of mine told me they are illegal in Arizona, but I think he's full of it

I spent about two hours combing the traffic laws, and couldn't see anything specific - about the closest thing I saw is that you couldn't mount visible lights on a passenger car that would distract other drivers.

Well, that's pretty vague.

well that is true in some states but most law inforcement officers wont give you s*** if your just have them on when parked but that is a big no no to have them on while driving .. and i know it sucks but for certain you can not have any blue or red lights displayed of flashing while driving other then that do what i did ..i simply called my local and state authorities non emergancy # and talked to an officer and he told me to bring the car down and they would looka t what i was talking about (not a trap to give me fines) and i did i went right down there and they were soo kool about it since i jsut told them what i wanted to do but not do it illegally and trust me they would never give you s*** if you do that since they think it is very respectfull and honest of you and that also helps other car owners like ourselves get a better name around town ect .. and to tell you one thing else it was about 1 week later I got pulled over for doing 85 in a 35 and one of the two cops was one of then officers that looked at my car that night and the other cop that i did not know was arguing with the cop i did meet because one wanted to ticket me and possibly arrest me and impound my car and the other one convinced him to let me off with a written warning and they did .. so i know it helps out

On the other hand, I have no desire to suck up to power-tripping cops. Their job is to protect me from criminals, and my tax money pays for them to do that. Their job is not to harass law-abiding citizens because of they way their car looks.

I have challenged two speeding tickets in court that were for less than 5 mph over the speed limit, successfully arguing that I was targeted because of driving a sports car (one was driving my RX-7, and one was driving my MX-6). I got out of both of them because the magistrate agreed with me.

Anyway, I found out that in Arizona, under-carriage neons are legal but can not be operating while the vehicle is in motion.
