NEMOC Random BS Thread

Sorry to hear Jeff, sucks man. How many miles on the car and when was the TB changed last if at all?

Had a great Mothers day with Mom and family. Leaving Mom tomorrow. A friend of hers is staying for a week. I start work on Weds, back at the old job for at least a month maybe longer.

Happy Monday! :/ Stopped at the mechanics first thing this morning to tell them what happened and waiting on a call back now. Also called Roadside Assistance and my local agent and told them all that happened. For now I just wait for calls back.

On a funny note, I just got a call from the mechanic asking if this was their first time seeing the car. Stunned, I said 'no, you've seen it several times for inspection and some work'. She said that the mechanic kept telling her it wasn't the right car and then asked if it was a Protege. That's when I realized they were referring to the 323F badge on the hatch...(rlaugh)

Ugh! What a story Jeff!! We have AAA plus and get 100 miles of free towing per service call (and we get 4 each per year = 8 which we rarely use) : / BUT had a 120ish mile tow last year when spicey tanked at an autox outside of Toledo. We had to wait over 3 hours for the tow truck to finally show up but it only cost us $50. Worth having it JUST IN CASE. Glad you made it home safe! What an adventure!

Yeah, will be looking into AAA Plus myself. Once all of this settles down I'm going to see what State Farm offers for towing mileage and at what increase to my policy. Checked my policy and roadside assistance per car is $1.80 per 6 months. But if they don't offer addl mileage AAA would def. be good to have for 'just in case' moments. Thanks and we were too!!!!

Damn Jeff! I was just about to b**** about stubbing my toe and all the fun shades of dark purple it is now. Not going to now...

Well it seems like you already did. :p hahahaha Sorry to hear and that hurts like a sumvitch espcially if you did it well enough for it to turn purple. Still flying home this week?

oh jeff! you could have given me a call as i live not to far from the merge between 91S and 15S over in farmington. :/ i could have run over with my obd2 scanner and found out what was wrong, then leave the car at my house if we needed to work on it! you know for next time i reckon where im living :)

washed my car yesterday with the new hose filter and a new absorber chamois cloth. came out super well with no water spots!

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH.....you know I thought about both you and Sean immediately but wasn't sure how far you guys lived. That would have been great and saved me a lot of aggravation...why didn't you call me? :p Def. know for next time though errrr, let's hope there is not a next time. lol

aye aye aye. sorry your weekend ended up in such a sour fashion.

Thanks Sean, had it been my son and I, was going to see if I could leave the car at your house and drive the Miata home. :D

Yep and just over 173K. You have to change the TB? hahahaha It's original and I've been putting off getting it done. Figured if it ever did go, I'd have the hassle of a tow....just thought it would go on my daily commute of 20 miles not 150 miles from home. :(

Good to hear about your Mothers Day and that mom is doing well! Congrats on the new, old job!!! Any chance it could go long-term or even full time?

LOL.. You'd have to leave a kid at my house too. No 3rd seat (lol2)

Yeah, I'm only about 20 minutes from where you got stranded on the highway. I could have been there in nothing flat.

Yessir. My flight is on Wednesday at 3:45pm. SO... if any of you are up at the wee hours of the morning on Wednesday and want to track my progress, United has a neat page to do so. You can watch me fly over either Russia, Northern Europe and Greenland or Northern Canada, and Alaska. My dad likes to follow it, and I know that Sean has before too. I wish I could open the window shades and actually see what I'm flying over though...

i did have a little feeling to give you a call but decided against it... my bad!

Its all good. Lol

Ugh...no idea you were that close either...eff me! Should i ever get stranded on the highway again im hitting up the forums before roadside assistance. And if you would have kept a kid that would have been great. You could have ups'ed him home after making him do work around the yard/house.

Hell, he might have welcomed that, at that point (rlaugh)

Knowing you have twin boys i see your logic. ;-) tbh though the boys were pretty good all things considered. I was pleasantly surprised.

Sweet!!! I know you are excited to get back! Hope all goes well with the flight. That seems like a pretty cool page but my lazy ass will be in ber.

Oh don't worry. It's a 14 hour flight. Plenty of time to watch it. I land in Newark at about 5pm.

Accurate statement is accurate.

a cool site to do this with is mondowindow. It simulates what you'd see out of the airplane window.

Yes great comeback. Didn't watch the game but damn to blow a lead like that. Oh well, it is the Leafs.

Leaving Mom today and starting work tomorrow. Miata meeting in Ottawa tonite and then home to the rig.

yeah.. my caps got blown off the map.

time to return to my regularly scheduled programming of awful mets baseball.

The Bulls are on the verge of being ousted but mercifully my cable provider doesn't offer WGN so I'm spared the agony of watching the Cubs on a daily basis.

In other news, 'tis a sad day. TB broke and both #2 and #3 cylinders were damaged (so much for non-interference). Rough estimate to re-build the top end is $2000 but then I know the bottom end is original and more than likely will have some oil consumption issues. Not quite sure what I'm going to do just yet. :`(

That sucks :(

I'd buy a good long-block from a wrecker and drop it in for < half the cost. If there's internal damage, these motors aren't worth the rebuild cost, IMO.

Indeed and I was thinking about a refurbished engine? Mechanic uses Jasper but an online price through them was about $3700 plus labor. At this point I'm looking at all options so def. will be looking into the cost of a long block as well.

Down but not out yet! I'm not giving up on her easy!!!

Several bad ideas:

1. KL-ZE
2. BP-4W
3. 350 small block

I'm sure none of those are possible, but the KL-ZE v6 intrigues me :P

No silly, you should always buy a brand new one from Mazda any time anything happens!
