Gotcha...def. get wheels to replace those bent ones. Is the deal on these speed3 wheels that good? Also keep in mind the rubber band tire size you'll need to use for them....could increase your odds of bending one of those too.

and 18" tires are more expensive than 17" or 16"! Especailly if you run snow tires.

the guy is asking $400 for a set of brand new wheels, in that they were pulled off the car once it was purchased. if i could get him down to 350 or lower id consider it a real good deal.
and a friend of mine showed me a seller on ebay selling these

i have someone to mount the tires for free and i could keep using my stockers for the winter. I dont know how the previous owner bent all the wheels but they are bent pretty good. quite a bit of weight to zero them out

I know I know.. My next car will be the 2012 focus hatch.

Not a bad choice.

That is a pretty good price on the wheels, as-is let alone if you can talk him down a bit more. Good luck in your negotiations and as long as you can live with the wheel gap is all that matters. After all people kept telling me to lower when I was on stock wheels. hahaha

No expericence with that brand of tire and I can't view ebay at work....what are they asking for four?

Sweet deal on the mounting! It'd run me $30 a tire at my shop for a 35 series....that doesn't include disposal fees and stems! And def. keep those stockers for winter duty....don't think those Nankangs would get you too far.

Jenn, whats this truck?
2003 Frontier 5spd 4WD with 53K miles... Unfortunate part is there isn't power anything (windows, locks). Part of the deal would be them installing cruise control at no charge to me. Talked price yesterday and I'll probably talk to them again today. James forgot that I have class tonight and said I'd stop by today, which I can't do.

Jenn, time to update sig. ;)

Speaking of vehicles for sale. My friend is selling his 2010 VW CC. Took some photos last night for him.

Crazy skies....

Deal isn't done yet. I want to go down a little more on the price and I'm not sure they'll like it.

Ahh yes... it's pretty much sold. Stupid amount of paperwork on my end for his loan. I have to get something signed by a notary.. ridiculous. Until it's out of its parking spot, it's not sold.

Tam's a notary...ah wait....guess it doesn't help she's in PA....have fun with that paperwork.

Definitley not my choice for a truck, but if you like it that great. Hope they come down on the numbers for you so it works out :)

What would you suggest then? I will have a hard time convincing myself to go to an automatic.

After 7 year with my 5 speed tacoma I would never get a truck that was not automatic. I am definitely a stick person, but trucks and SUV's are so much more practical with an auto. Its especially easier when towing. The Chevy (used to be S-10, not sure the name now) and Toyota Tacoma have always been pretty good mid-sized pick ups. Full size, toyota (tundra not T100), Ford or Chevy have been good (people will battle over ford and chevy all day). Dodge and Nissan are not great in the truck world. Dodge tranny's suck. I guess it all depends on what size you want, what you want to do with it. Used full size pick ups can be had a bargain prices sometimes, espeically if they are basic and not loaded with options.
Anything that was used for plowing for a time period I would stay away from. The salt and sand eats away the frame and underbody very quickly.

This is only my OPINION based on owning/ driving for work/ or having friends with trucks and everyone can feel free to hop in with other experiences.

im the same...like a manual car but would only buy an auto truck (both of mine are auto)

one side note about the tundra (though i dont expect you are considering one). My dad has a little gig in retirement delivering auto parts from a supplier to dealerships and mechanics around CT. Apparently one toyota dealership he goes to is replacing the frame on a new tundra which i guess looks to be all rusted out. And he said they have a stack of frames sitting in the back lot so maybe this is a chronic issue...hard to believe it is cost justified to replace the frame of a truck and not just give the person a new truck...lord knows what they charge just to replace a tranny.

picked up my speed3 wheels tonight :) . got a set of oem lugs with locks too. he wouldnt go lower than the 400 but the way i see wheels sell on the forum, 400 is great for wheels with zero defects

I grew up around semi's (my father's drive's one for a living) so I've always been in the "trucks must be manual!" group :) ...plus I get bored driving an auto (shrug)

i drive a little ranger around all day...it's actually not bad where I don't have to think about shifting, especially when I'm as sore as I am today lol. Plus it really feels like my car is the fun car when I get out of work and drive home.

very early good morning all! homework has been kicking my ass this semester. up late and up early working on it, all the time
