NEMOC Random BS Thread

Damn lack of caps...
NOAA... 06098

I've read it...but I'm keeping in mind their track-record of forecasting our area this season. Forecasting "blizzard" after "blizzard" that results in a lol-able 4 inches of snow.

That part of the state will definitely get a good dose of snow...but I'll be impressed if they get 14"+

jenn, did you look at UConn for your MBA before deciding on ccsu?

I'm getting an M.S. (in Technology Management). I might go for an MBA when I decide I want to be a boss but that won't be for a little while... No one will listen to me because I'm a female... (blah) (not entirely true but the older the guys are, the less likely they are to listen, even if I know exactly what I'm talking about).

There's a cheap mazda 5 at liberty mazda.. 5 speed too.

I just can't bring myself to buy something so van like.

haha, dont let that hold u back. the old guys wont listen to anyone.

did you look at uconn for your MS? My company just reinstated its tuition reimbursement program so I am thinking of jumping on that. I had previously been thinking about going to uconn-waterbury but im wondering what the price difference is with CCSU?

Toyo's are now made in China, not japan. Quality control sucks (hence why Obama put a hold on any of them coming over untill China improves its quality control).

Something to think about. They are not the same tire they were 6 months ago.

So who do you recommend? I am just shopping around right now. Toyo was in the lead because the tire looks cool and i used to looove the proxes I had on my old car....but if they suck now then thats that.

I was also looking at the Yokohama Spec-X, the cooper Zeon XST-A, some pirelli scorpions, nitto NT420s, or kumho ecsta stx kl12's.....

Driving in snow really isnt a factor so I am just looking for low road noise, great dry/wet grip in the summer and if it looks cool it gets bonus points. Stock is a 275/45 but I can go to a 285/45 or a 305/40 i think...though I would definitely prefer the 275 or 285.

Glad to hear they reinstated it.. I remember when you said they got rid of it, must be things are turning around?

A 3 credit class through CCSU is roughly $1300-$1400. I pay it up front then get reimbursed after I get my grades in. I also get reimbursed after for the books. Is this the same kind of program you have with your company?

I'm really enjoying the program. It's more beneficial than any class I took for my undergrad because it's based on real world situations and cases rather than chemistry equations and lab/research based information. I'll actually use what I'm learning about. I'm focusing in lean manufacturing and six sigma. I think what you need to do is look at what you want to get out of the major and see which one fits that best. For me it was CCSU, but if I wanted more of a materials engineering base, I would have gone with UConn..

Yea...well we had a rough beginning to last year and they kinda braced for the worst and cut all sorts of projects and benefits and stuff...but then as the year went on they realized it wouldnt be as bad as they thought so now they are putting a couple of things back on the table. My company's program is similar to yours in that they reimburse after you take the class and show them the grades, but my place wont pay for books/supplies and only reimburse 85% (which is still great). Did you need GMATs or any kind of entrance exam to get into your program?

I just did a bunch of research for my dad's tundra. He ended up with the Firestone Destination A/T.

the others were the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 2.

The firestone were cheaper so he went with those and has been happy so far.

what was the other car you were considering? You mentioned it the other day and said everyone would crucify you for considering it (or something like that). Did you ever spill the beans?

Ill keep that in mind, my neighbor actually works at a firestone place so i might be able to get a good deal on those. I am proablby looking for more of a street tire though...

No GMATs or GRE. I needed transcripts from my undergrad and I had to fill out an application + $50. I took one summer course and transferred a couple credits so be careful that you get ALL your transcripts, not just your main one.

oh okay. I have heard good things about the scorpions.

Was the no GMAT/GRE thing because thats how CCSU rolls with their graduate programs or is that because your specific program didn't require any entrance exam (but other might?) ? I guess you might not know if other programs require them....i would only know about whatever I was enrolled in...if that :)
