Found something pretty crappy last night in the condo... during the home inspection the guy noted a hole in the bottom of the shower in the master bath. He suggested a fiberglass repair kit. Well, last night I happened to be staring at the ceiling directly under the shower and noticed that the popcorn is a different consistency in a round area... Pushed on it and it's squishy... so the very small hole in the shower has been leaking down to the ceiling below.. There's no color difference, just popcorn consistency. I filled the hole with caulk and also went around the drain to be careful. When I went to put the caulk in the hole, water squished out of it and the last time the water was run was almost 24 hours before that. I'm not sure if I'll use the shower again before replacing it but at least this is something.
So... I have a standup shower that needs to be replaced.. suggestions? Shower stall kits? Getting the tray and walls separate? I know it's behind the drywall on the edges so it's likely nailed to the studs. I'll need to repair all of that during the replacement and the plywood under the shower. I'm hoping to avoid tearing out the ceiling under it.. Ugh. I'd LOVE to do a tile shower but it's way too much work and money right now..
