NEMOC Random BS Thread

Good Morning all. 3 to 4 inches to clean myself here in waltham looking from my window. No work aT BC today but have to close in AZ this evening.
A little glass of Cognac first and start the snow blower.

Snow tires are on the Nitro now, and I installed the mudflaps yesterday afternoon. They were a breeze. Just had to pull some plastic rivets out with a pliers and replace them with screws and metal clips. Had to drill a hole in the plastic fender for the top screw on each one, but I was able to do it all without removing the wheels!

Amanda reports: "This thing is AWESOME in the snow"

Nothing but rain here. I don't even think it got cold enough to freeze over.

Hehe I saw a shopping cart sticking out of one those huge snow mountains this morning. It was definitely a victim of a snow plow. It looked pretty beat up, but it was still interesting to see it half buried in the snow.

Oh yeah... I took the day off too Josh. Federal holiday and all.

Man I love these free movies. Watched The Men Who Stare at Goats. Some funny parts but overall not that great.

I agree. It's one of those movies that looks good when you see the trailer...but realize the trailer was the entire substance of the movie. Speaking of George Clooney, "Up in the Air" was great.

And while we're talking about movies...

Just finished shovelin my driveway and path to the house the snow was to heavy and slushy for the blower it sucks. Too old for this. Sweating like pig. Back in the island every time it snow was fluffy.(lol)(lol)(lol2)(lol2)

Found something pretty crappy last night in the condo... during the home inspection the guy noted a hole in the bottom of the shower in the master bath. He suggested a fiberglass repair kit. Well, last night I happened to be staring at the ceiling directly under the shower and noticed that the popcorn is a different consistency in a round area... Pushed on it and it's squishy... so the very small hole in the shower has been leaking down to the ceiling below.. There's no color difference, just popcorn consistency. I filled the hole with caulk and also went around the drain to be careful. When I went to put the caulk in the hole, water squished out of it and the last time the water was run was almost 24 hours before that. I'm not sure if I'll use the shower again before replacing it but at least this is something.

So... I have a standup shower that needs to be replaced.. suggestions? Shower stall kits? Getting the tray and walls separate? I know it's behind the drywall on the edges so it's likely nailed to the studs. I'll need to repair all of that during the replacement and the plywood under the shower. I'm hoping to avoid tearing out the ceiling under it.. Ugh. I'd LOVE to do a tile shower but it's way too much work and money right now..

The tub/shower in the house I just bought had a big chip out of a shelf that is has. I bondo'd it and then used tub/shower epoxy paint. I haven't had any problems with it yet but it's also not an area that gets alot of water thrown at it.

But in your case if that's not possible, I would buy a complete shower stall if possible. Also would replace any wood that was water damaged just so mold doesn't become an issue down the road.

House/appliance deal for me today as well. Washing machine died mid cycle. Filled with water....nice. Both washer and dryer are over 10 years old anyway. Very basic models at that. So we shopped around, found the ones we liked and bought them.

Well, I measured the space and the washer/dryer sizes beforehand, however I forgot we had the dividing wall in the bathroom that is only 26.5" wide. Ikes! Had to cancel the washer/dryer and go for the smaller units. Seriously! Who the hell would put such a small opening to just barely fit the units through?

Josh that's kind of funny about the washer, Mine died yesterday too! Third person I know this week besided me that has had that happen, Sears is coming tomorrow to see if they can fix it. If not they will have another washer handy in the van!
