morning......another humid day out today!

edit: I am ready for lunch already and I have onle been here for 20 mins.........

I bike, it's what I do. I'm most likely flying to CA around Christmas and driving back to CT with my brother so he can trade it in. Between that and the CT - CA and back trip I took in '04, I want something new.

i would drive to a new destination then.

Panama or Chile/Argentina are on my driving destination "to do" list...just watch out for the Darien Gap if you go with the latter....i hear u need to take a ferry from panama to peru/ecuador and avoid colombia altogether for safety's sake.

I cant imagine the logistics of biking cross country making it an enjoyable experience. I wouldnt even ride a motorcycle cross country. The people in the rockies on their bikes who were caught in snow squalls in september looked like fools....not to mention the ones caught in rain storms on the open stretches of south dakota highway with no overpasses for miles. I guess you could go across the south the avoid the weather but still...id want a car to keep all my crap in.

Hard to get to some of the meets, like Tuesday's in Bourne, work oncall, other commitments. Will be there for Cape Cod on the 23. Have only made it to 1 AutoX when I had planned to make most of them this year.

Going to the Outer Banks in NC in mid Sept. Looking forward to that.

On another note, going to a wake today after work. Good friend from work lost his Mom 3 weeks ago and then his Dad died last week. Only child, my heart goes out to him.

Well that's you, this is me, and this is a trip I've been dreaming about doing for years. I couldn't care less about driving south of the border. Would wish I had more support than that.

Anyway, I think the plan is moving back with the parents after I graduate in ct. With the hours I'm getting between two jobs I can't afford an apt, especially when next June I'll have to start paying back loans.

Another reason I'd rather bike than drive...no way in hell my car would make it, and if I can't afford an apt I def can't afford payments for a car of anykind. Macy will just get parked in the spring, and when I get back from my trip, I'll focus on the vette.

Hey Guys, I need some advise. Maybe from some of you older folks who have been through this before.

I'm beginning to think it's time for a change. Job, locations, etc. Something.

A little background is that I have been at my company for almost 7 years. When I started our department was new and I only worked under one women. She eventually left and I took over the department, which was great and was my goal. Since that has happened it has only added more headaches, less pay and a growing resentment to the firm I work for. They expect me to do upper management work, but won't include me as management and also don't pay me anywere near what the other project managers make.

I also grew up along the shore in CT and really think I want to move back that way. I don't think living near Hartford is for me anymore.

Here's my dilemma, the economy sucks as we all know. Should I just stick it out or should I definitly consider the idea. I could sell my condo and move back to the shore and in with my folks (they're building a new house with plenty of room) and try to find something down there.

Any suggestions, insight, past experiences? Thanks.

I say do what you really want to do and what makes you happy. Otherwise what's the point in going to a job everyday that you are unhappy with? You only have one go around in this thing called life. So to that I would search for jobs in that area, maybe even think a bit outside of what you are doing now. As long as you can take care of your finances of course, then I say go for it.

I was stuck in a corporate job for 4 years that although helped me get to where I am today, most of the people just plain sucked. To much politics for me. You'll loose your sanity after awhile.

omg, access to free housing along the shore? I would begin the job hunt, sell the condo as soon as possible and move in with maw and paw!

I would totally live on the shore if it wouldnt murder my commute.

I think in your situation the only thing that would keep me at that job would be if it paid well, which it sounds like it doesn't.

That is were I am at now.

The hardest thing I am dealing with right now is I feel like I am taking a step backwards. It's just hard after this is basically the only job I've had since college and I'd be selling my largest asset (my condo).

If you can handle the finances, start looking... You can consider renting out the condo until house prices come back up, but that could be a few years.

It may feel like you are taking a step backwards, but if you find a company with more opportunity and better people, it can only ultimately benefit you.
