NEMOC Random BS Thread

so sounds like i have a squeaky belt when i rev my engine. I can hear it really well when in the parking garage. could that be from to much tension on the belt? i did tighten the belt up a month or so ago because it looked like it was falling off the alt pulley. Or could I just need a new belt here?

You don't need a tensioner (you mean a thing to measure tension?), you just need to measure belt deflection at a certain point (with a certain force applied, but usually pushing with some force is good enough). The FSM has belt deflection specs.

Just replace the belt.

Morning all. Going to another Miata meet tonite. Should be interesting.

Is anyone else having issues with the forum loading and delay? I'm also having an issue with it remembering my last read posts. On some threads it takes me to earlier threads I've already seen.

Well, I was going to wash/wax the 8 this morning before the rain came in tonight....but the rain decided to come in this morning so now I have to wait until Thursday and find something to do this morning/afternoon. Not happy.

I've had the issue with it not remembering what I last viewed for a while. The last few days here, I've been so busy that by the time I get back on here, it's completely removed all the old ones and only shows the most recents.

The boys new helmets!! Patriots woot woot! and yes these are Kyle and Nathans actual helmets for football this year!

Check the deflection on the belt but try to isolate the squeak with another person and see if it's the belt tensioner pulley, I know on the Speed6 and Speed3 some people were running into the belt tensioner pulley seizing or being the source of the noise and replacing it, IIRC it's like a 25 dollar part and pretty quick to replace.

Morning all....nice helmets Tony but would look better with some teal and orange. ;)

Kyle, my belts have been squealing too when it's cold or wet out but since I'm 40+k overdue to replace the timing belt I'm just going to do them all in one shot.

Sorry NEPOC for neglecting you. I've been too busy driving my virtual '89 Miata. How do you like the rims? RockinVs in the other Miata is a member of Mazdas247. I don't think he installed an LSD on his Miata though because he was having trouble putting power down exiting the hairpins.

In other news, Amanda started her new job yesterday. Comparing the Stoughton school system to Groton/Dunstable is like getting sucked into Pleasantville according to her. Everything is so clean. There are no locks on the lockers. Kids are allowed to carry backpacks. Everyone is polite. Huge difference!

Vacuumed out the MS6 over the weekend and put the summer floor mats in. I still need to swap over Amanda's summer tires so i'll prolly do that this weekend. Other than that, been busy cleaning up the yard. The previous owners didn't do a very good job with the fall cleanup before we moved in so I've been clearing the massive pile of leaves that built up along our fence.

Going to pick up a lawn tractor in the next few weeks. Anyone have experience with Cub Cadet? Home Depot staff was pushing them over the John Deeres and they are priced lower. I think it has a Kawasaki engine in it.

see my post about sox tixs above!
chris, cub cadet are good...i bought a husqvarna at lowes last spring, i like it. the most important thing to me is HP and turning radius...too small an engine and it wil be straining once you miss amow because of rain and now it's 2" taller! also, if you have walks/trees and other obstacles to go around the tighter the turning the better...and also, make sure it hydrostatic tranny/drive!

I'm kind of tired of MazdaSpeed aluminum shift knob on my MSP bc in winter its freaking ice and summer its an oven so I'm considering getting new knob that will eliminate these conditions but no matter where you look almost all have SS or Aluminum so anyone has had carbon fiber shift knob ? Would it eliminate the mentioned conditions if i get a CF knob ?

I know a lot of people like the additional weight from an aluminum or SS shift knob. I would think that CF would eliminate this?
