The owner has actually restored two REPUs and I believe the other one is for sale too. It's more modified than this one with a super charged 6-port 13b. He's a real nice guy, very active in the Cali rotary scene. He's selling both trucks because he doesn't have room for them and wants to start a new project.
I get 24-26 mpg every fill-up with 75% highway driving. 100% highway I'll get 28 mpg. 100% suburbs driving I'll get 21 mpg. Premium 91/93 Octane is a must.
Get one with less than 70k or one that has had the VVT/ Timing Chain replaced. Unless Mazda reimburses me, I'll be paying $1,200 for the repair. It's easy to detect. When you start the car the VVT produces a rattle that sounds like someone pooring a handful of ball bearings into an aluminum can. Once warmed up, you can hear the timing chain slap faintly under high rpm acceleration. It's a similar sound but I honestly didn't notice until the repair was gone and the engine was quieter on the highway.
Other than that, my only pet piev is the clutch. I don't notice it unless I drive Amanda's Focus and then get back in my car. The MS6 is very picky about rev matching. It'll take a few days to master. No one that drives my car can shift smoothly on the first outing. I suspect the G35 is a much smoother ride but take a MS6 for a test drive before you decide. Once you figure it out though, it is a blast to power through 1st and 2nd gear when the light turns green.
