Stock is 16. 15s will look like s*** IMO 17s look great

I'll agree and say that 17s look nice...on a lowered car but have to disagree about the 15s. I like the look of the car with the meatier tire as well. Not my car but what I found using a quick search...Tein S-techs with 205/50/15s. I also know that Khaosman ran a 15" for auto x as do some other guys.

Or if you wanted to get all crazy you could run 14's for dd. I run them for my winter set-up, 14x5.5 Eclipse steelies with 185/70/14 tires lowered on Tein S-techs and Tokico HPs

Looks like the offset places the tires farther out. The lip is deep compared to the Protege5 factory rim.

so 15's will fit?

I'm looking for a setup for the strip - and know where to find a set of 15" wheels w/ slicks that'll bolt on right now.

15" will fit.
The rims need to have the proper bolt pattern, 5 x 114.3, and Mazda hub-centric rings.

I'm thinking the same. Lower offset will push the wheels out further.

Yes indeed, see the pics I posted and 14's will fit too, just have to watch the caliper clearance.

No rings needed if you find a set with the same 67.1mm hub bore.

Nice! im wondering if you had to roll your fenders? did you have to put wheel spacers in? thanks

I didn't roll them originally, no spacers.

But the rears do rub slightly without a roll. (at that height) If i raised it a 1/4th an inch it would be fine I believe

probably not exactly your cup of tea, but here's mine on 15" steelies with 205/55/15 tires
