Need Some Tranny Info.

Well, my tranny went bye bye again. Anyone know of any other tranny's that will bolt up? Will a Probe/MX6 tranny work? Gonna have to pay for this one myself.

that blows dude...dont know if a probe tranny will fit. try finding a junked protege somewhere. maybe you should ditch the puck for now dude...i think the consensus is that the clutch is the one causing the problem.

Nah, the clutch isn't the problem, it is the crappy tranny. They aren't built well. If an Integra running 18 psi w/ over 200K miles on it w/ a 6 puck, LSD, and racing slicks can launch at 4k rpms back to back and not ever break a tranny, that shows you how well built the LS tranny is and how crappy ours is. The thing is every time mine messed up I was not even driving it hard. This last time, I shifted from 2nd to 3rd at aout 5k rpms, really easy, and it messed up.

Has your local Mazda dealership completely replaced the tranny once already? I don't quite get why they are making you foot the bill for the tranny if it's having problems....are they saying the clutch is what's causing the problem and that's why you can't get this covered under warranty?

Cause of all his aftermarket internals. That is why I won't mod my car (cams, pistons, tranny) until warranty is over. I need to drive this car EVERY DAY.

well, this tranny is weak, is not just his internals, it is weak big time, i was wondering what kind of tranny will this new mazda 6 have, maybe we can figure out some kind of swaps?

other than that i dont have any possible idea of what to do about it, but im sure considering upgrading later to a better transmission.

The MP3 uses the G15M-R tranny. No other car expect the 01+ Protege and P5 use this tranny. However, the internals in the G25M-R tranny will fit into the G15, only the bell housing is different. So that means you can find a used tranny from a Probe/MX-6/626 V6 (they use the G25) and rebuild the MP3 tranny with the internals from the G25.

The AWD tranny from the Sport 20 will bolt up to our engines, which means an AWD conversion is possible.
