I need a new Head Unit for my Pro5.
What I want:

CD/MP3 player
ID3 Tagging
Rotory dial
Multicolour illumination- Red if nothing else to match my instrumentation.
Motorized Face (preferred)

What I want to pay:

ABOUT 200 on Ebay. I can install the thing myself.

Doesn't have to be fancy, but it does have to be quality. In other words- looks are second to performance.

Any help is appreciated!

Perhaps a Clarion would be the way to go. They come in changeable illumination that matches a lot of cars' interior lights. I heard a lot of good things about the SQ of Clarion head units. I believe www.thezeb.com has them too! I got my Pioneer from them and they are excellent to deal with (fast too!) :) I highly recommend thezeb.

look around for an alpine model....they are sharp HU's and have good reputations. they pretty much match your requirements on most models.

They just don't illuminated red.

CLarion will certainly meet your needs, but they are more expensive if they can do dual illumination. Its that feature that is going to cost you the most.
Crutchfield is always good to research this:

Aiwa, Sony, Sanyo, Dual, and Kenwood should be avoided.

Some newer Alpines can change the illumination color from the standard 'alpine green'

Be aware of what actualy changes. Its not a red illumination that most people will be looking for.

The 9826 can only change the green buttons to red. The dispay remains blue/white:
Crutchfield list it out.

Key button color is what is changeable, not display color

my alpine HU can be green or amber, which is a bright color. the green is nice and the red is brighter than the red in my mazda. i believe you can tone it down. the red is difficult to see during the day though........
