umm find somebody that does it not so legally or put the stock parts back on
haha that's why i posted. to see if somebody knows somebody who would hook me up.

God ....Cali must SUCK...just swap your stocker back on for the test. Then you will still barely pass because of the damn thing running PIG rich from the factory.

for future reference.. will DSM's A/F controller take care of this if i get it installed before next test (with apex dp back on)?
will an obdII meter from the smog place tell them i have some type of ems controlling things?

why are you getting smogged so early? new cars dont need to be smogged for 6 years.

yeah,why you smoggin?
are you selling it?

the best thing you can do is register your car in a low-polution area,like lake county or somthing,you just get a PO box there,register it there,then have your mail forwarded to your true address.no smog till you sell it.

other then that,you will not pass with one after market cat.so only a couple choices if you don't have your factory cat,barrow a fac cat from someone,buy a new factory cat(big money),or weld in another cat.

could you do me a favor,and post pics of your 5 gas,I want to see your numbers with one cat.
smog s*** is kinda my thing.I am not sure why I haven't gone and gotten certifeid yet,oh yeah,the smog test is 4 hour drive away

Stocker would be the best bet for now. Look at the window sticker on the car regarding pollution. It's on the far end of the spectrum when it comes to pollution. Even stock and new, it wasn't exactly passing with flying colors.

actually,I stuck imne on a five gas machine when it was new,it was rather nice.everything was WELL within spec.

i'm actually registering my car for the first time since i moved here from nebraska (over a year and a half ago. been lucky). but as a first time register, dmv is making me smog it. i did end up putting my stocker back on. what a b**** that was. one nut had to be cut off. also found out that my apex DP was cracked at the weld on the "j" end of the pipe. so i have to have that fixed before i throw it back on. man, what a difference that pipe made though. no more good pull, BUT my car is a LOT quieter.

WICKED: my smog numbers with the Apex DP (injen cai, customMSP side mount IC, and custom 2.5 catback exhaust)
15mph = rpm=1663, %co2=14.1, %o2=0.8, HC(ppm) 'max=60' "i measured 65", CO(%) 'max=0.53' "i measured 0.07", NO(PPM) 'max=459' "i measured 485" == FAIL
25mph = rpm=2666, %co2=14.3, %o2=0.3, HC(ppm) 'max=43' "i measured 43", CO(%) 'max=0.51' "i measured 0.09", NO(PPM) 'max=746' "i measured 158" == PASS

Is it true you need to have the smog done with in your county ?
No. But if your county is SMOG II (as most of the Bay Area is now) you need to go to a place that does SMOG II tests.

I smogged my Protege 400 miles away from home.

this is a little odd,it looks like you don't have a cat at all.
you failed on your HC's at 15 mph,and NoX at 15 mph,this would show your lean,but your CO2 is at 14.2 showing you are getting very efficient combustion.

looks like your buring exactly like you should with NO cats.

your aftermaket cat is a POS,or it's a pre OBDII cat.either way,it's worthless.

keep the factory cats around for smogs,and you will have fresh cats when you need in two years.
