I have a 2006 Mazda 3 2.0L 4 door. Recently I got the CEL coming on and code reading pointed to an issue with the thermostat. Ordered one from OnlineMazdaParts.com and just replaced it today. Everything installed fine and I took it out for a short spin. 10 minutes in and the temperature gauge started creeping to the RED line. Topped off the coolant and drove it again. When the engine is revving for an extended period of time (like half a mile), the gauge starts climbing, but if I coast, the temp seems to fall down to normal operating temps. Had no problems with the temp before replacing the thermostat. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You got air in the system.
1-run the engine at 2500 rpm for 5 minutes,
2-then run it at 3000 for 5 seconds.
Repeat steps 1 & 2 two times.
