So I was coming off of the freeway goin probably like 45 mph I was slowing down hit the over drive switch came around the corner and the car just sputtered and died. I tried to start it with no luck it just sits there and turns but won't fire. I was wondering if it could be fuel spark or hopefully not the timing belt is there anyway for me to check. It was weird the car just died and now it won't start. I fear the tbelt jumped is there a way to find out. I have been having fueling issues lately but I thought I heard the fuel pump doing something when I was tuning the key back to the off positiin. Any help is appreciated thanks

Oh also the starter sounds funny like not right but everything still turns...accessory belts so iam guessing the motor is not frozen

Oh ya also if the tbelt jumped a tooth would the car still run but just sound bad or would it stop running all together

If the timing belt shears its teeth, the car will definitely not start, just crank and crank. I believe you can pull the timing belt cover and look at the belt. How many miles are on the timing belt? I think it needs to be changed at 90,000 miles.

The car has 160k. I was wondering are these interference engines like am I screwed if the tbelt did sheer teeth or can I put one on and be ok iam 90% sure it's the t belt cause the cams do not move when I crank the motor but the accessory belts move
