I'm planning on changing my pads in the next few weeks (Protege5), and would like some suggestions on moderately priced brake pads.
I have heard that the genuine Mazda pads are UBER expensive (like $90 a PAIR) is this true? If so - I'd sure like to find something a little more economical. I'm open to suggestions - but please don't post about any super-high performance stuff if it's costly - I'm interested in saving a few bucks, but not compromising braking. Stock performance is fine with me.
Also - any tips on doing a brake job would be appreciated. I've done tons of 'em, but every car is different, and these Japanese cars never cease to amaze me. I remember the first time I changed the pads on my Miata, I spent an hour trying to push the caliper piston back with a c-clamp before I found the little allen screw that pulls them back with a few turns - aarghhh.
So any advice will help. Thanks!
