Navigation stopped after body work

We’ve had a 2016 Mazda cx5 grand touring for a number of years. This is my wife’s car and I don’t drive it often. A year or two ago it was in a body shop (I’m pointing this out because I can confirm the navigation was working before it went into the shop) for replacing the passenger side doors and fender due to a collision. The car hasn’t had any other major work done to it since. Now I get a message that the car doesn’t have navigation installed. Can someone maybe point me in a proper diagnosis direction? I’d rather not take this to either of our local Mazda dealers as they are not high volume dealerships and I don’t really trust them. I’m thinking maybe a module got disconnected, even though only the two passenger doors and passenger side fender was touched.

Thanks in advance

When you say your navigation stopped working, what exactly do you mean? Could you provide some details, some pictures maybe? Do you get a black screen with the coordinates? Or you do not get anything? Does it show how many satellites are seen? If body work was done to your car, suspect that the GPS antenna could've been disconnected and they forgot to reconnect the cable after completion. Just some thoughts.

I get a compass screen with a message about going to a Mazda dealer to purchase an upgrade. I just found that the SD card wasn’t pushed in, but now I’m just getting a spinning pinwheel thing with a message about navigation starting. Pulling the card and reseating it does nothing

Maybe turn off the car, remove the sd card, clean it with some isopropyl alcohol, put it back in and then start the car.

Best to do the removing/insertion of the SD card with the ignition off.

Could be that the contacts on the card/reader are oxidized/dirty.

Check here for a possible solution.
