National Mazda Cannonball Rally

interesting..I'd really love to run from coast to coast..I'm sure a few people would be down from the ca area..i know i'd end up just having my car flat bed'd out there anyway..

Well it wouldn't be worth having a bunch of people drive out to CA just to meet 5 more people :)

If this was given ample time to spread the word and for people to fit it in their schedules, I'm sure we could get a lot more people going from CA. And this is a "Mazda" event right? Not just Proteges?

If so then you have the rotary people, mazda6 people...etc etc

If we get this from CA, why don't we start a list of people who are interested. From other boards also. We can hit up rx7club and the other people. Figure out if we are gonna have a entry fee, if so start having people sign up to confirm their spot.

How we are going to sleep every night, what city's we will be stopping off at. Maybe we can find sponsors to donate a few items for the winner?

Yeah this is gonna take more planning than it seems like, there needs to be a list of cities that we will be sleeping at every night, a list of hotels with decent deals, rules, what to do in case of popo trouble (we can go offroad and hide in corn fields like the Gumball people did lol), what to do in case of mechanical troubles, a directory of cell phones... these just off the top of my head.

Oh man (lol2)

I would be down for something like this but need lots of details. I would guess that it would require significant funds and time. Of which this man has neither.

A hot co-pilot makes any trip worth while.

we can always get some call girls for a couple of days :x

Or if u have a hot girl already, you are set :P

If ya got any extras... I have a seat open in my car ;)

i know what it takes to plan this..all the cities..the stages...all the routes..having a 3rd party group controling the event..so on and so forth..it takes about a year to plan something like this out..i'm talking about next spring/early summer for this go underway..and yeah, its a mazda run..all mazdas..i'm just trying to probe for intrest if anyone would really consider doing such a run in the protege world..yeah, money..your going to need it.

sounds like a good time to me..... just need a mths notice to take time off week, get a trailer to pull my car to wherever we are starting. so on and so on!!!!

you'll have a lot of notice..in a perfect world i want this to serve two purposes..one..of course, being a huge rally..and 2nd..for those who live in the mid-west or in the south..or up north, to jump in on the convoy and come to the meet..it should be a lot of fun, finally get a national meet together..hopefully i would end up being a car show size..maybe get some legit sponsers involved..

a car show at the end could be cool.... but cleaning up after a 3500 mile run would suck..... i know it will be expensive specially since i will trailor my car to ca (if that is where it starts) and then from ny back to wa!! but oh well.... i want to beat my last time ny to wa in 36 hrs.....

Perhaps mazda clubs along the route could sponsor get-togethers for the group as it crosses the country. Like, if you came through Omaha, MidWestMazdas could host a BBq for all the drivers...you'd get to meet a ton of people that way, even the ones that don't join in on the trip.
Plus, it would help defray the expenses a little bit for you guys to have us feed ya'!
