N2MB WOT Box w/ 2-Step Installed

:
2003 Protege ES-T
hey, so finally got around to installing the WOT box. install was pretty easy 6 wires. Just make sure you go by the ECU pinouts given in the directions and not wire color since the same colors are reused in the ECU harness. also i'd recommend wiring the clutch switch at the ECU since it'll be easier. it was a PITA trying to reach the wiring at the clutch switch its self.

also so far i haven't gotten a MIL and i've had it in for 2 days

WOT Shifting
sorry about the quality, hard to drive with one hand. But it was holding about 5-7psi through the shifts

I have it too car is soo much faster with the WOT shifting but the 2-step is pointless just spin tires like crazy without it probably spin worse with it. If you have a built tranny with some slicks then yea it will benefit you alot.

yeah i have no traction in first anyway once i hit boost but the two step makes for hard consistant launches. right when the tires start to spin let off the throttle a little bit, grab second then WOT shift from there.

or you could try to launch in 2nd if you dont like ur clutch. lol

The clutch wouldn't mind it for a few runs but second gear probably won't get past the first run like that lol.

i've been tempted to do this.. I partial throttle shifted into 3rd yesterday and musta done it just right because I got a very satisfying chirp out of the tires.. haven't done that since i was running the snow tires on salt covered roads.

Do it the WOT shift alone is worth it plus sometimes you get some really loud backfires that scare people around you lol since it's cutting ignition not fuel.

HAHA that would be worth it right there. especially on a catless midpipe (also in the plans).

I don't understand how no lift shifting and 2 stepping would be different. wouldn't it just limit the RPMs to whatever its programmed to in either case?

the point of it is 1. consistency. and 2. in a turbo car, to build and maintain boost since your WOT the whole time. i'm seein like 2-3psi with the 2step after maybe 3-4 seconds. im sure if i held it longer it would build a little more boost.

you program the 2step to the rpm you want and it will vary the ignition cut to hold that rpm. it starts cutting as soon as you go WOT, you can hear it and the rpms climb slower, and it'll increase the frequency of the cuts until the rpm is reached and hold it. with WOT shifting, it uses the clutch switch to signal the WOT box to cut the ignition for up to 350ms. i have it on the default "auto" setting, but you can select how many ms for it to cut the igition for up to 350ms i believe. this works at any rpm as long as you keep the throttle wide open. after the preselected time it send the ignition signal back through like normal, so if ur not fast enough or miss the gear, when the ignition reactivates it'll rev up to he limiter unless u let of the throttle.

also with the 2step there is a lockout at 1500rpms. meaning if your above this it won't work, so it won't **** up your downshifts or anything
