Mysterious clunk

I've searched and couldn't find anything similar to what I'm experiencing. So here's the problem:

I've got a clunk coming from the drivers side engine bay. Took it to the shop and all the motor mounts checked out fine. None of them torn or broken. Most of the time, the clunk happens when leaving a red light. I started to think maybe its the swaybar bushings or something, but it also happens when I put the car in gear without moving (i.e putting it in reverse/first prior to pulling out of a parking spot). So I figured suspension can be tossed as a possibility also.

With the mounts and suspension out of the equation, wtf else could it be? My problem just doesn't seem to fit what everyone else has experienced (from what I've read). (uhm)

Your shifter weight could be hitting your cold air intake. Put it in third gear and take a look under the hood to see it it hits. This heppened to me after the bolt at one of the CAI mounting points broke. Just a thought.
