It only takes a few days to get it welded when we receive it.. so say 3-4 days for that side and then shipped back.

the writeup is on here in the how to section. just do a search for "disassemble gears LSD" and it'll come up.

Hey Steve,
Long time no talk. I found this thread and it got me thinking about some preventative (sp?) maintenance on my lsd. Do you have a photo of a before/after with the welding?

p.s. the wife and I brought home identical twin boys a couple days ago (first) (shocked). Back to topic, and sorry to thread jack...

Just out of curiosity what kind of reaction did your cars have when it blew the lsd????

when your lsd goes out does it damage any other components besides the clutch?

No and the clutch should not become damaged either. All that happens is the actual LSD casing separates from the main ring gear.

good stuff, I guess I should just put off the welding until it breaks and then weld it huh, it would run me the same money...

no dude you should really get it welded before it breaks...mine split in half and sent many little pieces of metal flying through my trans causing a couple other parts to break...I'd highly suggest getting it done before hand...I replaced mine with the protegegarage professionally welded one and its working really well for me now that i got everything put back together. One thing is for sure...It definately will break at some point...it is a terd...

Yeah, I'm having a shop remove my tranny and give me the diff and flywheel so I can have another shop tig weld the diff and grind the flywheel to prep it for the new clutch. I'm hoping to avoid posting on this thread as a "member of the club."

So it's about an $1100+ project incl cost of the parts.

Pretty much what I did, except after mine blew up :)
~$750 (new clutch/used stock flywheel)

...my LSD has left the building.

Had it towed lastnight to the shop doing the work and they are taking it apart today. Looks like I'll be getting the protegegarage OWM LSD pre-welded.
