So does the radiator need to be out to do the drilling for the oil return line? Or could the engine concievably be lowered enough to do it with the radiator in?

depends on the size of the drill you are using. If we had a right angle air drill there wouldnt have been a problem. Unfortunatly the only drill available was a long ass hammer drill plus the huge bit we were using so not only would the radiator and condensor be in the way we also had to unbolt the power steering cooler and push it outa the way.
