My Turbo Project

after Scott splitting his, and other problems I've had with CS parts, i won't buy anything that CS made....

Damn, I forgot about your exhaust. The s-pipe split? What a pos. Maybe porting the stock one is a better idea.

Oh yeah, I forgot to say good luck on the project. Hopefully using the stock msp ecu and manifold you will avoid the nightmare that was Kevin's mam kit.

I will be in town thanksgiving week, so I'd like to check it out if it's done by then.

dont forget about the msp radiator and fans that u'll need...slimlines if u wish...

thanx for the reminder. I'll need the MSP radiator to use with the SMIC. Will my stock fans not work with the MSP radiator and intercooler? How hard is it to wire in the slimlines?

Are you getting a new clutch while you are putting in the flywheel and lsd? And speaking of the lsd, get it welded. It seems to be the weak link in the msp transmission.
As far as the fans go, should be able to reuse your stock one. On the msp, the fan covered both the radiator and intercooler.

yeah, i'll get a new clutch. Not sure what I want (stockish or 6-puck). The LSD I'm getting will already be welded from Protegegarage.

hey sort of taking the same route but i'm going for the stock msp setup..for now at least...although i'm buying an upgrade for the intake manifold from protege garage. and i'm buying an msp ecu form ken now also. this what i have as of now:

Ooooh wait...wrong thread.

that shouldnt be too hard: Trans, ECU, Gauge Cluster, wiring harness pieces if not all new harness, clutch, flywheel, pedal assembly, shift linkage, shifter

I'd probably just trade it in for a 5-speed. Or better yet, for a mazdaspeed 3.

on the forum. since i've started this project, i spend most of my time in the FS section scouring the threads for parts.

If you are looking just for turbo items in general, check out honda-tech.com's for sale section. That's where I bought my CE28 wheels from. You may be able to find a good deal there.

thanx man. they have some vendors that have the turbo cheaper than **********.

Right now i'm looking at **********, ProtegeGarage, and Horsepowerfreaks. Anyone else suggest any other vendors?

um... does the MSP ECU like 440cc injectors?
i honeslty don't know. I'll definately find out what supporting mods will be needed to run the injectors.

Thanx for bringing that up (2thumbs)

edit* - Just did a quick search. You were right. I'd need some kind of EMS to run the injectors. Plus, with the setup I plan on running Ii won't need the injectors. Now I just hope I get outbid on ebay.

yeah the ECU will still see the stock injectors and run them at the predetermined duty cycle then it will realize the mixture is stupid rich go into full -20% short term fuel trim then go -20% long term fuel trim and basically from there everything goes to hell in a hand basket.

Newho the WRX injectors would be nice but for you application and the fact that you are A. not running a built block and B. you have no LSD the stock injectors will be more than enough up to the task of running 8-10psi. IIRC the stock injectors start going into boost cut around 12+ psi which is way to much to safely run on a daily driver and still keep piece of mind every time you jump on it
