My TTD build thread

I missed today, but car is loaded on the trailer and I'm ready to go tomorrow!

speaking of trailer...... its in! I will be driving out to Michigan next week to pick it up! yeah me. July 17th I will be going for my full comp license. So maybe I can race with you (not well tho).

Glad you got the car situated, good luck tomorrow.

Also, congrats on the trailer (I know, I recently got one), and SERIOUS good luck getting the comp license. Not that I think you'll need it, but it is also a big step. Glad to see more serious racers (of whatever discipline you choose) in the community :)

Had a great time today. It was a pretty fun track and hanging with the other TT people was great.

I feel great about the car. I ran with the old Nittos today on a track I didn't know and ran a decent time. Not to mention when I was watching the car bounce around on the way home I remembered my shocks were at full soft. Oops.

Here's a video of a lap of BeaveRun (don't laugh too hard at me, it was my 3rd 15 minute session): http://www.breesmotorsports.com/files/LapOfBeaveRun_2010_06_27_21_21_58.wmv

BIll, you handled the track well, especially for the first time. I was coaching a friend of mine on Saturday and he made a significant improvement. You got the rhythm section perfect turns 2 through 7, especially after cresting the hill at 7, not letting the car move to the left and then driving back to drivers right.

Then turns 10 & 11, were done correctly, our cars have to start in the middle and then let it push out to the left. Great job and we'll see you at Mid-Ohio next month!!!

It was nice to meet you Bill. I'm glad you were able to get everything
fixed! You have a nice Mazda Machine there.
I so wish I had a trailer! Maybe next year!
It was good to hang out with everyone! A really good group of people!

It was nice to meet you to. The nice part of using your daily driver is is you have the fun Mazdaspeed to drive every day. I can't believe how clean that thing is!
Thanks again for the jump.
Hope to see you at MidOhio.

How do I resize images in a post?

You have to resize them before posting them. That said: DAMN that thing looks good! :D

Looking good! How are you satisfied after modifications?

The car is incredible. It brakes extremely well now, which used to be my biggest weak point of the car. The cornering is very neutral, I might want to loosen it up a little more with stiffer rear springs but I want to try it at MidOhio first. Turn in is immediate and there is a ton of feedback from the steering and good feedback from the brakes. I wish I had more power of course, but in general I don't notice the extra ballast of the car and it still accellerates well. I could keep up with Mzd_Spd_3 in his Mazdaspeed3 in the straights because I had a higher entry speed coming off the corner. I'll find out for sure July 24th how good it is when I head back to MidOhio and can compare lap times to previous years. My goal is to get below 1:40 there.

Good news, corner weighting is done; bad news, I found a fuel leak while putting the car on the trailer so no dyno tonight. Hopefully I can get it fixed before BeaveRun this weekend.

Total weight with 5/8 tank of gas and 200 lbs in drivers seat for me and my gear and about 140 pounds of ballast = 2765

Front Left: 820
Front Right: 791
Rear Left: 598
Rear Right: 557

Cross Weight: 50.2%
Front Weight: 58.2%

finally got my car weighed this weekend at school. Now I need to buy a book on corner weighting and suspension setups. Found that the car is sooooo much more neutral with a full tank of gas.

oh and passing in the corners is WIN!!!!!! I will never autocross again!

Both Bill and I can concor with the auto-X comment. We will probably have a few more converts as we will have a number of first times at Mid-Ohio this weekend!

Bill, good luck @ VIR!

Glad to hear how much you like it. I still autocross, but its a fun social event now more than a competition or adrenaline rush.

Finally got my dyno today. Made more power when completely cold, but when warmed up it is right at 176 hp with my limit of 180. I'm really happy with that and I might even think of knocking it down a little when the colder months get here just to be safe. Its obviously pulling timing when hot. Love the torque though.
