My Speed6 experience is over

Well, a little more than a year after buying my 06 Mazdaspeed6, I decided to sell it. I lost a lot in the trade, but I'm still happy with the final decision. I decided to go for a brand new and (hopefully) trouble free Mazda5 GT. The family's growing fast (2nd kid coming in a couple of months), but the decision maker was the ongoing troubles I had with my Speed6 and the constant arguing with the mazda dealerships.

As I've posted before, I was getting V8 like milleage, doing barely 350km/full tank, even when driving it like an 85 year old hat wearing grandpa.

After buying brand new discs and pads not even 3 months ago, they were still making a lot of noise and becoming blue again. They were installed this time by a different garage, but the same problem came back. Since day one, I had the feeling that the brakes had constant friction.

I also had the famous white smoke coming out of my exhausts, which was not an issue as per Mazda. Weird, cause after only 4000km, I had no more oil left.

Oh, also a broken bearing, a constant whistling noise in the cabin that I never figured out, an hesitant acceleration, a replaced rusty hood which came back with paint so bad my 4yo daughter could have done better, and the list goes on and on...

I'm very dissapointed, and I'll still miss the power it had (when it had it). I'll also miss my short shifter stage 2 and the all wheel drive. Hopefully, I'm not gonna have to argue as much about the Mazda5 or the Mazda3 we still have.

Thanks to everyone who helped me in my learning process throughout all my newbie questions asked. I appreciate the patience showed by most of you guys. I won't be far, I'll be roaming in the Mazda3 and 5 section of Mazdas247. ;)

I wish you guys the best and a trouble free Mazdaspeed6 experience!

Thanks a lot and talk to you soon!

Sorry to hear ya go, but at least you got something reasonable that works for your family. Sounds like your MS6 was problematic, and not representative as a whole of what these cars are about, and the dealer didn't want to help. I wish you the best in the future with your 5 though!

sprry to hear that bud. but at least u got into another mazda (:

3 pedal people mover?

Yeah, I was already loosing the power and the Awd of the speed, I needed at least the manual transmission ;-)

the Mazda 5 is still sporty, hey, I've got a leather wrapped steering wheel! Lol!

The good news is, it's mostly the same parts as the Mazda 3. Turbo kit for Mazda 3 = turbo kit for Mazda 5 as well! LOL

But for now, i'll take a little break and enjoy my trouble free vehicule.... ;)

Your car will be a real sleeper with a turbo kit but yeah I see what you are saying it hard to stay out of trouble with turbo lol.

I agree, and so far, except Car and Driver's tryout with their modded 5, I have yet to see a real daily driven modded Mazda 5.

That's definitely something I would be proud of.

I just got a Mazda5 for a rental while on a business trip... nice little minivan if thats what you want to call it... I had that bad boy chirping

Hey guys, I don't know if anyone is interested to see it, but just in case, here's a couple of picks of my new daily driver;

Shaved doors, CX7 antenna, CAI and 4300K HIDs.

Here's the latest one with MS3 wheels, on 215/45R18 oem MS3 tires. They still have a summer left on them, but next time I'm going 225/40R18 for sure.
Didnt have time to clean it up, though. Still waiting on MS3 springs to drop it.

There's a world of difference between an MS6 and this car. I'm still unsure if I'll be able to tough it a long time, but for now, at least I can drive around +320miles per tank (mostly city)! ;)

looking good bud! but that isnt very many miles. i get about 350 miles to a tank all city in my speed 6

Must be something they put in gas herein Canada cause for us, people doing 320 miles in city with a 5 is good and nearly impossible to do in a speed6. Mine wasn't even doing 350Km (!!!) but that's another story ;-)

so even if it might not look as an upgrade on gas milleage for you guys, it definitely does for me! ;)

i live in canada too. in ontario and only use sunoco 94. i average 525-575 km per tank. and thats not taking it easy either. ive seen over 650 just highway
