My Speed got stolen last night........

yep sadly for the prepared thief all you have to do is hacksaw the wheel right next to the club and your good to go.

I just watched a teriffic tv program that talked about car theft.

The quickest (and quietest) way into a car was by prying at the door lock with a screw driver. Then they use a tool to rip open the ignition switch, and off the go.

It was noted that vehicles with clubs and visible alarms were least likely targeted. The reason is that a very high percentage of car theft is done by persons looking for quick cash (junkies) and they don't want to be in a car for more then a few minutes.

So it is my conclusion that these car jackers were pro's and you will never see your beautiful MSP again.

Sorry for your loss, makes me (and hopefully others) think about better ways of protecting ones car... My personal favourite is the James Bond system... where the car blows up with the mofo's sitting in it :D

kill switches, in-car piezo(sp?) loudspeakers and remote notification are things i may be considering in the near future... as well as a good 8hr install.

hey man did you not set the alarm? when i purchased the car mine came with an alarm also i purchased a lojack when i bought mine

Thanks for all your support and encouragement guys! It's really appreciated!

However, to add insult to injury, I called my insurance company and, among other things, arranged for a temporary rental vehicle. The only thing their rental place had available to give me at the time was a white Chevy minivan!(dunno)

A freakin white minivan!!! And one of those big, jumbo, king-sized ones too! WTF!!!! (blarf)

I needed a vehicle, so I said OK, whatever I'll take it.

How can people stand driving these things!!????(screwy)

I seriously feared I was going to flip it over on its side the first highway exit I took! (Still used to taking corners MSP style!:D )

God, I think the plastic tricycle I had when I was 3 years old was more exciting to drive than this thing!(bike)

And how the hell am I supposed to park this huge freakin bus at work in Downtown Montreal?

Anyway, they're gonna send an adjuster to see me sometime this week. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

So does that mean you have the car in your posession now? If so, what'd those fuxers do to your car?

I drive my car to work and back home. If we (wife and I) go anywhere public (malls, bars, etc) we take her car. I'm so ****** paranoid it's foolish. This post didnt help either. ;) I feel for you bro!

damn that sucks...just to let you guys know the club doesnt work. Most of the time crooks saw a part of the steering wheel off. the newest gadget is a pedal lock. I think it locks the gas pedal so crooks cant use it unless they can saw through steel.

nice use of smileys

minor threadjack but, if your key is out of the ignition and you turn the steering wheel to the right a bit, it locks up... would this be an efficient way to stop or no.. i dont know much about steering wheels...

damn..so sorry..i better get the autoloc thing they showed in tv..i guess the thief was a pro cos you dont drive around a MSP for joy ride..too much attention will be given to you cos of its looks...it will end up in CHOP CHOP..see it in Ebay in few bays...parts and stuffs...damn thieves..

Sorry to hear about the car :(

I do however have an anit-theft device that will not fail for the MSP. A boost controller tied to the security system that you can set to 20psi when you get out of the car. The fools wouldn't make it halfway down the road before rods where flying out of the engine. It would cause a little damage, but insurance would hopefully cover the cost of a new built engine :) Oh well.

Werd. One thing you can do is take the Cam Angle Sensor with you. Rig it up so that you can just unplug it, and the car WILL NOT START!

Interesting... Can you give us more details, please?

I'm thinking let the FKers steal my car. My insurance is for full replacement value. Yeah, I'l be pissed for a bit, but I will get over it as soon as I drive off the lot with my new RX-8. muhahaha

LOL that's pretty funny. I'm just curious how they were able to drive with your club on the steering wheel! I thought those things were virtually unbreakable! Look on the bright side... if you weren't such a cool guy and decided to get some lame ass car like (fill in the blank with any number of lame cars that are out there) this wouldn't have happened. (yet, you'd still be stuck with a focus or something so... I guess you're probably better off now) Anyway, maybe it'll all work out for the best. I doubt you'll be able to get yourself back into a Titanium MSP but I know someone who'd be willing to sell you their orange MSP. LOL seriously though... insurance will give you the bluebook value... which should equate to a rather high figure. Use that money to get an even better car... it's the ONLY thing that can possibly make you feel "ok" about this whole thing. hmm... only problem is, there's no such thing as a better car. DAMN!!!

Your right. The club is unbreakable. The problem is the steering wheel is not. All those bastards have to do is get a cheap pair of bolt cutters and cut the steering wheel. Then they have your car. The club is the biggest waste of money and they mislead their customers into a false sense of security.

Maybe we should get a steering wheel quick release and take the steering wheel with us!

Ok, the Cam Angle Sensor is the plastic thing sticking out of the front, top of the valve cover with a harness plugged into it. What I would do is pull back the protection wrap on the HARNESS side, and cut the two wires. Make sure you have enough wire to work with. If you cut it too short, you willb be up s*** creek! Before you do that, have some type of quick-connect crimps plugs so you can quickly unplug, and take the harness plug with you!
