My new MAF setup + extra pictures

I took mine out long ago. I didn't have any problems at the time I removed it, but as I have added mods, my idle has been getting progressively worse and I can't find acure for it.

I'm wondering if CAI+FMIC might exaggerate any inaccurate readings due to the screen not being there. I lost mine a while abgo, so I'm getting a new one shipped to me. If I had to bet on it, I'd say it's probably something else causing my problems, but having it back on will be one more possibility for me to check off the list.

Well guys, I joined the dark side. I removed the diffuser. It runs A LOT smoother and is a noticable improvement in get up and go. I can't explain why or how, the A/F mix is still the same (rich).

Do you have mods (fmic, intake, pipes, etc)?

Current mods:
Custom Greddy exhaust (no cats)
Greddy Turbo Timer
MBC set @ ~<10 psi
Custom Hard pipes
Boost gauge
A/F Gauge
Coolant By-pass
Joe P. FCD
One-step colder plugs

ECU reset: you can disconnect the battery OR pull one of the "ENGINE" fuses off for a while. There are two to choose from (just pull one, no need both): in the fuse box inside or the one in the engine bay. Check the owner manual.

so just disconnecting the battery does the trick? well i did that when i took the maf out anyway so i guess mine was reset.

But for what it is worth, if you put if against your mouth and blow, it is restrictive. Go figure. Let's keep this alive by reporting if anyone has any negative effects in the onths to come!

agreed, hopefully we wont have any negative effects to report tho.

If that sensor sticking down inside the MAF sensor is as sensitive as it should be, then it's possible the lack of the screen may create more stress on it by not guiding air evenly past it. Just a theory but let us know. (shrug)

actually, this was intended for genius. I know you have a bunch of good stuff already casopolis (doh)

s***. I didn't realize that; I've got my screen setup on the forums to not only display someone's signature once. I'll be changing that *now* (hand)

Ya, his car is just a tad better off than mine. LOL!

Another update...

Recently, I was laying down the hammer on HWY 90 in Mississippi and I blew one of my couplers off the hot pipe. The coupler is MIA so I had to wrap section with duct tape and take it home. At home, I realized, I ran out of 2" couplers but I still had my reducers for the MAF.

So I put the MAF back on the hot pipe and reduced my boost down to 8 PSI to hopefully combat the lean condition I was having. Here is the kicker...

At 9.5 psi, the car was lean and had X amount of power. I reduced the boost to ~8 and noticed a stoich reading for the most part and little if no power loss whatsoever. As a matter of fact my ass dyno says that it is slightly better.

Go figure. Anyways, sorry to bring up an old thread.

I am now a member of the blow-through MAF club. The car runs a lot smoother now than it did before. However, I too (^^^^^) notice the slight drop in power, not that I have dyno data to back up my suspicion though. I'll have to watch the first tank or two to be able to comment on gas mileage.

None yet, but I will take some this afternoon and get them uploaded soon.

i just noticed int he first post (pictre) you're still using the recirculatino, if you have the MAF after the turbo don't you not need that any more?

Anyone check to make sure that the loss of power isn't coming from the ECU pulling timing? Just an idea.
